The pastries weren't anything special. The products didn't live up to the establishment's location.
The service was very rushed. The place is very pretty but too touristy. You can tell it's a money-making machine.
What a shame.

Very warm welcome, pleasant service, cheerful atmosphere.
A little disappointed by the profiteroles, which were supposedly exceptional but were quite ordinary; the choux pastry lacked freshness.

A disappointingly iconic Nantes address.
The brunch I remembered was no longer on the menu, so we booked a table for Sunday at 2:00 PM. Upon arrival, in a light drizzle, we found a group of about twenty people waiting outside. There was no communication.
After some discussion, we learned that our neighbors also had a reservation for 2:00 PM. We entered the restaurant after about fifteen minutes.
Once inside, we were quickly seated in a small room on the left, quieter than the bustling main dining area, but lacking the renowned decor. The €37 Sunday menu looked appealing, but the stuffed sea bass was no longer available and would be replaced with pollack, the waiter told us. His tone remained friendly, but we sensed that business was slow and time was of the essence. We opted for the cod in a citrus crust from the à la carte menu at €25 and a glass of Cheverny. We were served fairly quickly. The dish looked nice, but the portion of cod with beurre blanc and an endive was rather small. We looked for the citrus peel... only to find a trace of it on the endive. Nearby, the waiters were busy preparing homemade tartares made to order, which I remembered fondly, but the cozy atmosphere was gone. We decided to cut our visit short by ordering two coffees and making a quick getaway! The soul of La Cigale has vanished, a victim of its own success, no doubt. The restaurant has become just another run-of-the-mill establishment, undoubtedly very profitable for its owner, a must-visit for the many tourists passing through Nantes. Avoid it!

We had a perfect Valentine's Day evening at La Cigale, from the food and atmosphere to the service. The latter was particularly pleasant, and we would like to thank the waitress who made the evening even more special!
