The restaurant is certainly well-located but quite basic in what it offers. Let's just say it's not particularly sophisticated cuisine, more like a brasserie (salads, burgers, etc.) with a somewhat haphazard menu that could almost make it a tourist trap. Was the homemade terrine actually homemade? It's fine if you're coming with family and want to eat without a reservation. Nothing more. Fortunately, there are better options just a few streets away.

This is already my third time here. The location is absolutely fantastic, and the prices are very reasonable. Great value for money — highly recommended!

This isn't our first visit to Strasbourg, and we'd already spotted this well-located little restaurant. This time, we took the time to stop in. The shaded terrace by the canal is a real treat. The waiters and waitresses are all smiling and friendly. As for the food, it's a delight. Local cuisine bursting with flavor and taste. Our advice: take the time to enjoy a delicious meal there.

Superb food in a beautiful location. Restaurant was busy but I was seated quickly, the waiters were on the go constantly but were still attentive and friendly. Would highly recommend. 👌

Chez Tante Liesel

14/09/2026: We stumbled upon this charming little restaurant by chance, and the many positive reviews convinced us to reserve a table at Tante Liesel. We weren't disappointed. The atmosphere is incredibly cozy, like a traditional living room. The service was very friendly, and the other guests' demeanor showed that the owners put their heart and soul into their work. The food was delicious. We started with onion tart, followed by a small portion of Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) and the Eisbein (pork knuckle) with beer sauce and fried potatoes. Since this combination didn't include sauerkraut, we ordered it separately—an absolute must! The white wine was perfectly chilled and tasted wonderful, and the digestif afterward was also excellent. The price-performance ratio is absolutely fair. All in all, we highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely return on our next visit to Strasbourg.
