La Maison sur Cognac

Points +: The meal was delicious. The service was impeccable and the server friendly. We discovered the François 1er cocktail which I strongly recommend trying to all those who like cognac ☺ The setting is pleasant. Point - : Only downside, my rare meat was served to my husband and I had his meat medium rare... Perhaps we should set up a color code (flag toothpick or plate with a red border for rare and a another color for medium, well done or blue) to no longer make this kind of little mistake...

Quite a strange experience - the room was lovely and the service was good, but unfortunately it was let down by the food. We went mid week and had a fixed price lunch - me a starter and main, my uncle a main and dessert, with the food arriving so that we both had two courses at the same time. My squid starter was good, but my uncle's main of 'flying bird' (it turned out to be chicken) looked pretty tough and over-cooked. We asked about this, because I had ordered the same for my main, and the dish that appeared for me a few minutes later was almost unrecognisable as the same course! So - a good experience overall, but it's a shame when a restaurant with good service can be let down by quality control in the kitchen.

We were able to enjoy a delicious dinner! Not eating meat, we took care to call in advance and we were indeed not disappointed. The menu allowed us to eat dishes rich in flavor and original. We also had desserts which were surprising and absolutely delicious. We will come back when the new menu is released to discover new dishes. The service is top notch, as well as the tailor-made wine and cocktail recommendations.

A central restaurant with a reputation for being one of the best in cognac, but as you know the saying "build fame and get laid", for us it was a disappointment. The building is beautiful, very old and restored, the main room, the one facing the street, was like a sauna, all the diners complained about the heat, as it has no air conditioning. One of the waitresses opened the windows and it became a little more bearable. The service is very friendly, especially a young waitress who speaks Spanish, despite her youth, she shows professionalism, everyone is attentive and diligent. We didn't like the food, for starters and to share we ordered some prawns with parmesan sauce, the prawns were few and small, the sauce good. For a second course, my wife ordered a veal carpaccio and left it at the second bite. During the trip he ordered carpaccio at two other restaurants and liked them very much. I ordered glacé pork, with squid tentacles on a bed of strawberries (Italian pasta), I was expecting some pieces of roast pork, mellow and I found a very well decorated plate, of course, with three or four pieces of torresnes or so confits, some tender and others not so much, with a couple of octopus tentacles on top of the pasta, too al dente, with a sauce that wasn't bad, but wasn't for throwing rockets. The wine they recommended to us was good, nothing more. In order not to have any more disappointments, we did not eat dessert and asked for the bill. In short, a restaurant that has certainly seen better days, but apart from having a very short menu, in my opinion it is nothing out of the world and does not live up to the fame it has or had. I've read the reviews and seen some pictures of the dishes from a few months ago and it has nothing to do with the menu we found, maybe we went on the wrong dates.

Came here on our last night in Cognac with high expectations to end our stay here with a great meal. Service was professional and attentive however the food quite underwhelming. Had the chefs recommendation, argentinian beef steak. Quite basic, just the meat on a plate with gravy and a breaded mashed potato log. Not well plated. Quite surprised for this calibre restaurant. Taste was so so, paid 130 euros for 2 people, with 2 glasses of wine. Disappointed.

We came for lunch week 31. We were 2 adults, 1 child aged 4 and 1 child aged 1.5 years. We had booked in advance to announce the presence of children and the team was able to prepare a suitable dish. We were able to park our bikes nearby. The decoration is modern and relaxing. The children were particularly well received: high chair for the little one, served quickly. They ate everything! The non-alcoholic cocktails were original. The dishes were delicious and the desserts a little special but we really liked it haha. Thank you for your welcome !

Went for the menu du jour. A gazpacho with burrata. Following by grilled fish if the day and medley of veg. Was delicious and great value for money. I was pregnant so just drank water and apple juice but my husband had some tasty glasses of wine. Atmosphere was lacking slightly but it was a wednesday lunch time and the cognac fête was on. Would go back! More modern inside than the name might suggest.

Plein centre de cognac, jolie décor, tables espacés . Bref un endroit qui donne envie. Au niveau table tout était très bon, un très bon cocktail au cognac (bravo au barman), carpaccio bien assaisonné, filet de bœuf excellent et mon porc confit était à tomber. Dessert très bon, même si l émulsion de brie manquait de vigueur. J oubliai un vin de Charente en pinot noir avec des note poivre : le petit sapiens parfait Merci à l equipe

Op maandagavond hier gaan eten. We namen de vis vooraf, als hoofdgerecht de lamskarbonades, na een kaasplankje en een zoet toetje met espresso. Alles smaakte voortreffelijk. We kozen voor wijn per glas en gaven aan de sommolier ons voorkeur door. Hij serveerde bij het voorgerecht een rose en bij het hoofdgerecht een rode wijn, die beiden heel goed gekozen waren. Op maandagavond is veel dicht in Cognac, en reserveren is dus essentieel. Le Maison is een aanrader, maar is wel aan de prijs.
