La Paillote sur Saint-Jean-De-Monts

There were four of us this evening. The food wasn't bad, but nothing extraordinary either. The servers seemed overwhelmed. One of them apologized and explained that they were unfortunately understaffed. Two of the servers were quite friendly. The rest of the staff was so-so. As for the guy in the cap!!!! Well, how can I put it... appalling!!!! Saying in front of us, "Have you chosen your desserts? I'd like to go home," seriously?! And watching him prepare them with such a blasé attitude is just unbelievable. The way he spoke to his colleagues was simply unacceptable. I quote, "It pisses me off," "If you walk around in sneakers, I'll f*** you up," and so on. This might explain why the staff doesn't stay! Anyway, they could do better.

The food is always top-notch, and the service is great too. It could use a bit more music. It's a shame they no longer accept restaurant vouchers 🥲

A very warm welcome, even a VIP treatment 😉😂. I highly recommend it.

Restaurant next to our campsite. First time in four years. The meat was very good. Disappointed by the mussels as there was hardly anything on them, perhaps overcooked? For mussels, go to La Moulerie! They're very good.

A very pleasant lunch, a nicely shaded terrace, and tables spaced far enough apart for quiet conversation. Prompt service with smiling and friendly staff (they checked on our table several times during the meal to make sure everything was alright). Generous portions with fresh and varied dishes (tomatoes and olives in the salad, fresh currants and strawberries as decoration in the desserts). Large car park making parking easy even in the middle of August. Simply perfect.

Excellent food. We had time to enjoy our aperitifs before our main courses arrived. Friendly service.

Lunch was rather disappointing compared to what I had expected. I ordered beef skewers with Rockford sauce. I received a skewer with pepper sauce. The waiter realized his mistake and swapped the sauces. What bothered me was that I had to take the other person's sauce and vice versa.

The daily special was excellent: red mullet salad, piperade, and eggplant caviar, €18. Beautifully presented, fresh, and flavorful. Caesar salad with anchovies (the real deal). Good draft beer with a selection (triple Karmeleet) at a very competitive price of €4 for 33cl. Excellent service amidst the trees. Thank you.
