La Pomme d'Or sur La Charite-Sur-Loire

Simple lunch but air-conditioned dining room and pleasant service

Picked this place over another because it had air con on a stiffiling hot week. Found it quite strange at first having to wait till 6pm to check in cos they close at 3pm during the day. The room was a nice spacious and clean room just not to our taste in decour, it was painted dark grey all over, but was very comfy especially the bed. We didn't partake in the evening meal as the dining room shut very early around 7.30 to 8pm ish. The staff were fine did there job, although didn't really see them very much.

Dinner was decent, although a bit pricey for what was offered. Room 7 was pleasant, but there was no soap in the sink, no tissues, and the shower head was broken! Breakfast offered no dairy products, nor was any available. A truly mediocre breakfast. We won't be back!

Small, quiet hotel. Well-insulated room with proper blinds. Good meal. A lovely stop in a charming, slightly old-fashioned town.

We stopped by on a Saturday at lunchtime, there were five of us, and we were all delighted with the welcome, the service, and the excellent meal. We will definitely be back!

Overall, a good experience. Highlights: Undoubtedly the restaurant and its evening menu (31 euros, justified in my opinion, and a glass of Sancerre at 6 euros, which is quite reasonable). Good, well-executed cuisine, pleasant service, and a cozy dining room. The woman in the kitchen knows her stuff, and it shows. A small, quiet hotel with 9 rooms, completely renovated. A pleasant outdoor terrace for sunny days. The staff were very professional. Lowlights: The room renovations are a bit shaky: some outlets don't work, the shower cubicle is a mess, the desk area is tiny, and the paint is peeling. The housekeeping was average, especially the floors (lots of dust, had they even been vacuumed?). The breakfast was mediocre and impersonal (10 euros). The manager is rude and doesn't greet guests. He's only there to read the meters without paying attention to the customers and doesn't lift a finger. Unfortunately, we see this all too often in the hospitality industry... In short: a pleasant establishment with great potential, offering good value, and enhanced by the women who run it. Well done! Olivier

I regularly come to La Pomme d'Or when I'm working in the area and I'm never disappointed. Lovely decor, sunny terrace, very pleasant. The service is always impeccable and the menu is very appetizing! A very good time, I recommend it!
