La Table de Jeanne sur Chinon

I highly recommend this restaurant. We tried the set menu (which included coq au vin). The service was attentive and the food was exactly what we liked. Quality ingredients and expertise. It's not every day you find such good, home-style cooking and friendly service.

Lovely staff and authentic atmosphere. Let down by the fish which seemed a little stale. Faith restored by the remarquable Tarte Citron. Also, the dining room is rather small and the tables are quite close together.

Jeanne's Table: a wonderful discovery of a restaurant serving traditional French "homemade" cuisine that showcases local produce. It has a charming, rustic feel, like a country inn. We dined there twice during our stay. A very warm welcome and efficient, well-rehearsed service. The set menu was €32 for him and €42 for her. For starters: a zucchini velouté with goat's cheese from Le Vazereau farm near Chinon (worth a visit for its goat barn), excellent and refreshing, and superb foie gras on brioche with chutney. For the main course: coq au vin with a rich, full-bodied sauce reminiscent of those from my childhood in the Auvergne region, a perfectly cooked pike-perch fillet with crisp vegetables, and a Rivarennes dried pear. And to finish on a high note, a Rivarennes dried pear poached in Ypocras wine, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a shortbread cookie. And to remain Rabelaisian, a pitcher of red Chinon, delightfully easy to drink.

Very good zucchini soup. The coq au vin lacked spice. The terrace was very pleasant.

Chez Jeanne Restaurant... A wonderful discovery in Chinon. The meal was delicious from start to finish. We discovered some excellent wines and simple yet innovative and sophisticated cuisine. The atmosphere was wonderfully peaceful... Special mention for the revisited lemon tart... (and that's coming from a lemon tart lover...) And another special mention for the coffee, which was simply perfect... My advice... go and discover this fantastic restaurant.

Absolutely delicious! Excellent French cuisine! Highly recommended! One suggestion for improvement would be to add background music, but otherwise, nothing to complain about!

Authentic, carefully prepared cuisine.

A very good find, no "children's menu" but our usually rather picky children loved it, and so did we.
