La Table du Pêcheur sur Ancenis

We ate very well. We went because we were looking for a place that served eel, which was excellent, but the pike was also very well done, with crispy skin. They also spoke English, so we had no problems. They were very courteous and attentive, both in explaining what they had brought us (in the case of the complimentary entrée) and in serving us more panne when we saw we'd finished it. The price was proportionate to the quality. The portions were not small. We were very pleased; it felt like we were in the galley of a ship with its dark wood, very characteristic!

The welcome was very friendly. The service had many imperfections. I asked for a special whisky, but I was served a glass without being shown which one. The wine was presented to me (which had been well suggested), but no server offered us a taste or served it throughout the meal. The food was good, but the verbal presentation of the dishes was very sloppy and served buffet-style, even though we had plenty of time. The foie gras was good, but the damaged oysters on the plate disappointed me. The pike-perch with beurre blanc sauce was frozen, which was a shame. The eels lacked parsley and a little lemon. The rest of the dishes were very good. I'm not disappointed with the restaurant itself, but this review is intended to improve the somewhat inadequate service. Excellent restaurant with good fish dishes. The service is friendly and fast. Unfortunately, there was only one type of beer available, a wheat beer.
