One of the few places where you can sit down for a drink without a reservation.

What a great place, right across from the train station! The person who runs it is fantastic, and the atmosphere is really pleasant. Super retro.

If there's one place in Ancenis you absolutely must discover, it's this restaurant opposite the train station. The service is impeccable, the menu simple and limited—a sign of quality and fresh ingredients—I love it. When the dishes arrive at your table, take the time to appreciate the chef's culinary artistry. You'll discover a blend of flavors and delectable delights. The chef has a true knack for elevating even the simplest dish. I highly recommend this establishment.

Despite his youth, the waiter is very professional and you can tell he wants to do things right. The future belongs to the youth. Well done, Charles!
And what can I say about the owner? A truly wonderful guy, the kind you rarely find. I highly recommend him.
Thanks, Antoine, and all the best!

If friends have Central Perk to meet up with in New York, Ancenis has Le Café de la Gare. Antoine and Charles (and the cooks) expertly manage not only the logistics (fast service, an ever-changing menu, train schedules displayed on the bar's screen...) but also the friendly atmosphere. They've succeeded in transforming this café into a real community hub. Regular customers are on the hunt for "the lost Johnny" (a local Johnny Hallyday painting that's never been found), travel with the "Café de la Gare" sign, and return with their selfies to be displayed on the wall. Antoine and the cooks share seasonal local flavors with us. Charles introduces us, the locals from Nice, to "mint pastille" (thank you! We'll bring some back to Nice), a product from Maine-et-Loire. At Le Café de la Gare, you run into friends you saw the day before. You catch up with that friend you didn't have time to message during the week. You reconnect with your former student. There, you'll find familiar faces entertaining you with their casual conversations. In short, the station café is a theater of life. For two hours, I wasn't just treated to a meal. I was told a story. Yours. The story of the people of Ancenis. Thank you, my friends Carelle and Manu, for this gem. Balzac was right in "Le Père Goriot": it's the people who make the place, not the other way around. Bravo to Antoine and his team for managing to create this haven, every single day, a place that warms the heart.
