Perfect time, quality, quantity and service everything combines to have a very, very good time. The restaurant with a view of the ponds is spacious, the old decor has been kept which gives it an old but neat touch. The dishes are well executed and very balanced despite the previous negative opinions I have nothing to complain about it is not the starred restaurant so do not expect an exceptional level but still the mastery and accuracy of the flavors make it a very good restaurant. The team takes great care of us and it’s appreciable and the icing on the cake Mr. Georges Blanc came to greet everyone in the room 🤗

Relaxing setting, friendly welcome We were in possession of a Christmas gift box... Christmas is over but today on the terrace facing the pond was not bad. Thank you to our children for introducing us to this place! Thanks also to the staff

We discovered the Château d'Epeyssoles thanks to a Smartbox given as a Christmas gift. The site is magnificent, the rooms very luxurious, the quality bedding, a dream stay surrounded by nature. This is why we were surprised by the lack of professionalism of the restaurant staff: the terraces of the pond. The waitress was unable to give us information between the different vintages of Juliénas, telling us that she knew nothing about wine. We were disappointed by the starter: the lobster mimosa, because we didn't find the taste of lobster but the mayonnaise was too present and very difficult to digest. I had to go out and breathe some fresh air before continuing with my meal. The presentation of the chicken was really simple, and the sweetbreads could have been more tender. Fortunately the desserts were excellent: the soufflé and the chocolate tart were excellent. The breakfast buffet is OK, but there are no scrambled eggs, the pastries are very ordinary. When we left, the receptionist charged us 55 euros too much, it was a rate error between the reservation email and their billing software. We ordered a bottle of champagne and some sweets to celebrate our wedding anniversary, but the sweets were 2 pieces of chocolate bars with hazelnuts. Bad luck, I don't like chocolate. In short, an idyllic place to recharge your batteries, but for the restaurant, it is better to go to the village of Vonnas to Mr Blanc. To organize a wedding or a family celebration the site is ideal with the hotel on site.

24/12/2024: A slightly disappointing 3* dinner, let me explain... As a preamble, I never give an opinion on this type of restaurant as the design of the menus, flavors and textures is complex and the rendering is unique to each person, but here I think it deserves that I take up my pen... Aperitif: my partner orders a fruity wine, we bring her a Jurançon closer to muscat than the chamber of love mentioned to the sommelier, we don't offer her to taste it beforehand, and no alternative offer... and this will be the case throughout the meal as part of a food and wine pairing for 250 euros... I don't find this worthy of a three-star hotel which has the most beautiful wine list in France... The meal itself: beautiful presentations, however I find that the taste of the main element announced (pigeon or crab for example) is lost in a mixture of flavors and textures that is too complex if we add to that a wine that I haven't always found suited to the food, it's a bit disappointing. In terms of the different dishes: a vegetable roll with obviously a salt error (I tasted my partner's being surprised by the way too salty taste of mine, there was clearly a cooking bug), the error is- Is it excusable in a 3* with a menu at 380 euros...? That's another debate... To end up disappointed with the last dish, the venison and the mash that accompanied it were grainy and not pleasant on the tongue. In a food and wine pairing, cheese (an institution in France) should be brought automatically... this is not the case and offered half-heartedly... ("would you like to complete your meal". .. kesako ???) The predesserts and desserts are on the other hand plentiful, for my part I am not a sweet tooth, so I would have preferred a little more extensive dishes to finish with a more subtle sweet touch, even with the help of my partner we did not have not finished the desserts which we ended up finding disgusting, but it's only a question of taste... Special mention to the baker with exceptionally good bread!

Bistrot L Ancienne Auberge 1900

07/09/2024: A restaurant renowned throughout the world and there is something to be said for it. The staff is impeccably friendly. The restaurant room is magnificent. The dishes are of extraordinary finesse. What more can I say apart from thanks to the George Blanc brigade.
