La Vieille Auberge sur Sansais

We stopped in the Marais Poitevin for a day and the night. The location is very close to the Marais Poitevin (Green Venice) with easy parking. The manager was very welcoming and helpful; he even booked us a boat trip from the dock less than 500 meters away. Excellent value for money.

Great location after a boat trip with Venise Verte Évasion nearby, to avoid the tourist trap of Coulon. A simple, authentic hotel next to a stream. Don't compare it to a hotel next to a highway with a swimming pool in Niort where there's nothing to see. The owners are very attentive, with fresh water and a terrace available for picnics. For dining, there are plenty of nice little restaurants in the neighboring villages.
