During a weekend hiking trip in this beautiful region, we had dinner at this restaurant (without a reservation). The setting is typical of the area, and the dishes were delicious, generous, and flavorful. We had a lovely evening. The staff was helpful and tried to serve us quickly. A great place to eat.

Fantastic experience at La Vieille Étable in Le Mont-Dore! We had fondues with Saint-Nectaire and two cheeses to share: they were delicious and very generous portions; we even had trouble finishing them! Typical mountain dishes, a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and very friendly staff. A great place to eat if you're visiting Le Mont-Dore. Bonus: the restaurant is open even outside of school holidays—thank you to them!

The servers were great, the food was very good, and the children's menu was a good choice—finally, some vegetables! We had a wonderful time.

We had a very good meal; the Saint-Nectaire fondue was excellent. One small point: the bread wasn't suitable for fondue! However, the service was lacking; the waitress seemed to have no patience for friendliness. She should definitely consider a different career if she doesn't enjoy customer interaction! And as for privacy, being only 20cm from the next table when there's plenty of space in the dining room isn't very pleasant! Once is enough!

We booked a table for four people the day before. We were seated between the kitchen and the entrance, essentially caught between two drafts in the evening when it was 5 degrees Celsius outside. Not at all pleasant for dinner. We mentioned this to the servers. The waitress took it well, while the waiter told us next time, in a very unpleasant tone, that they would remove some tables. This person doesn't accept criticism. Sir, I would like to inform you that we are customers and that customers have the right to express their dissatisfaction when it is justified. The truffades were good but not extraordinary. The Lou... meh, the mushrooms were bland. The gourmet coffee, on the other hand, was quite generous and good. The waitress was much more pleasant. It's fortunate that you only deal with passing customers.

The Saint-Nectaire fondue was disappointing and far too salty, and the thin sliced ​​bread was inappropriate. The charcuterie platter was of very good quality. The two waitresses were very pleasant and efficient. The decor was themed. If I could, I would give it 3.5 stars.

A huge thank you to Steven, our server, who was incredibly kind from beginning to end. He even offered to let us take home the leftover fondue… a gesture as rare as it was appreciated! We had a wonderful time and we will definitely be back. I highly recommend it!
