I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant L’Abreuvoir in Turckheim, Alsace, France. This restaurant is located in a historic village in Alsace which may not be among the region’s most famous or picturesque ones, but is nevertheless well worth a visit if you happen to pass through by car. The restaurant itself is clearly popular, and it can be difficult to find a table around the start or end of lunch service. We were fortunate enough to secure one. We ordered a green salad to start, followed by the beef “gros sel” pot-au-feu style served in its broth, which was flavorful and comforting, with particularly good accompaniments and a well-balanced broth. We also tried the daily special, consisting of pasta with bouchées à la reine in a creamy sauce, served with puff pastry. It was filling, well seasoned, and satisfying, even if the cuisine remains very much home-style and traditional rather than refined. The tables are placed quite close to one another, which can make the restaurant rather lively and a bit noisy at times. The lady who welcomed us seemed slightly reserved at first, but her attitude warmed up as the service went on, and overall the service was pleasant and friendly. All in all, a good address for simple, generous Alsatian-style cooking in a village that deserves a short stop.

The restaurant offers excellent value for money. Furthermore, the food was delicious. We were there during the Christmas season and the restaurant was beautifully decorated. All in all, I give it 5 stars.

Restaurant l’Abreuvoir was an absolute standout. This was one of the best burgers and fries I have had in a very long time. The burger was cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful, with an amazing sauce that tied everything together beautifully. The fries were excellent as well, crisp and satisfying. The tiramisu was incredible and a perfect way to finish the meal. Service was friendly, warm, and very accommodating, and the food came out impressively quickly without sacrificing quality. It was also dog friendly, which made the experience even better. Overall, a fantastic experience from start to finish. I would happily go back and recommend it without hesitation.
