L'Auberge du Pelican sur Dinan

As part of a meal purchased through a Wonderbox gift voucher, we were welcomed at the Auberge du Pélican. Contrary to what the initial presentation of the voucher suggested (a set menu with starter, main course, and dessert), we were offered a choice of dishes, some with an additional charge (indicated by an asterisk), as well as a list of pre-defined desserts. Drinks were, of course, extra. That being said, the dishes and desserts offered were of good quality, well-prepared, and enjoyable. The service was provided with diligence and professionalism. Note: the restrooms are unisex. During our visit, the arrival of a group temporarily made access slightly more difficult, but this was not a problem. Paying for the meal required a short wait, as the server was the only one handling the specific billing related to the vouchers. In summary: a good overall experience, with quality cuisine and serious service, despite the operation of the box menus which could be clarified beforehand to avoid any confusion.

The highly organized welcome might almost dampen the atmosphere, but very quickly, delving into the restaurant's menu warms the mood and ignites the appetite. And behind the appetite lies the tangible reality: the quality and flavor of the dishes are truly top-notch, not to mention the excellent advice of the owner, perfectly supported by efficient and, above all, talented staff. Mmm... We're still savoring it now! A special mention goes to the near-perfect pace of service, a testament to the attention paid to the guests. Because, it's true, it really is perfect... even if we suspect that our innkeeper is more the type to strive for excellence. Who could complain? Not us!

The menu offers a good selection. The food is tasty and plentiful, cooked perfectly, and beautifully presented on warm plates; it's a shame the sauces are all so rich, delicious but sometimes overpowering, as with the curried sea bass. The wine selection by the glass is also too limited.

The main course, a rather bland sea bass fillet. Fortunately, the starter and dessert raised the overall quality, which was disappointing considering the exceptional dining experience promised by the gift box.
