Le Bar Basque sur Guethary

Excellent service and dog-friendly, but the food is a step below. We stopped here for dinner after walking from our accommodation. The best thing about the place, without a doubt, was the service: they happily accepted us with our dog, without a reservation, no problems whatsoever, and the waitstaff were lovely, friendly, and very professional, making every effort to serve us, even in Spanish. However, the food was another story. We ordered the baby squid, highly recommended in other reviews, but we found them reheated and greasy, nothing special. The hamburger was also unremarkable, of average to poor quality. We accompanied our meal with some rosé wines that were tasty but ordinary. We paid 58 euros for two people; it didn't seem expensive, but it wasn't cheap either for the quality of what we ate. Despite the food not being on par with the good service, we would return. It's best to think of it as a café rather than a restaurant, especially to avoid having overly high expectations. Excellent location and views all the way to the sea.

Warm welcome, quick and friendly service. We had a great meal; the trout tartare and mille-feuille were perfect! The terrace with its lovely sea view was delightful. 😀

Perfect! The friendly, smiling staff found us a seat on the terrace despite it being very busy. We enjoyed tapas while watching the sunset... A wonderful memory.

A charming spot where everything is homemade, with a stunning sunset view. The simple dishes are incredibly fresh, and the mille-feuille... a true delight not to be missed, as is their refreshing lemonade! The warm welcome completes the experience; be sure to book ahead.
