A very warm welcome (Marc), the waiter seated us at a table in the shade as requested. He served us throughout the entire dinner and we highly recommend his attentiveness and kindness.

The mussels were good and we enjoyed our meal; no complaints about the quality of the food.
However, the service could be improved. A group seated on the terrace asked permission to smoke, and the waitress agreed, even though smoking is now prohibited in this type of establishment. When we mentioned that it bothered us (I am pregnant), we were simply offered a different table. So we had to move, as if it were up to us to adapt.
Despite being moved, the end of the meal was spoiled because this group continued to smoke, and the smoke was still bothersome. It's a shame, because this situation marred what could have been a very pleasant experience.

Very expensive for what it is.
Starter at €19.50 with a tiny plate, frozen fries, simple dishes with no real flair.
The staff were very pleasant, however.

The mussels from the children's menu arrived cold. The toilet seat in the women's bathroom was badly damaged, and there was no soap in the restrooms – not great.

Average, just basic fare; they need to improve the culinary presentation and cooking methods (the shredded skate was inedible, overcooked, and left on the plate). I even got my coffee before my chocolate mousse...

A mixed bag, it could have been perfect! Seriously, because the first time, when we came for lunch, the meal was fantastic: the quality of the ingredients, and our waitress (Juliette) was absolutely amazing! However, one evening, when we wanted to come for dinner this week, Monday night, at 9:30 pm, they were no longer serving, even though Google says they open at 10:30 pm. When we arrived, they still had quite a few customers, so I find it really unfortunate and disappointing that a touristy restaurant like this would turn away three people for dinner. But no big deal, the Café de la Paix further down the road has managed to attract new customers! (The funny thing is, we're not tourists!)

A pleasant terrace overlooking the quayside with a harbor atmosphere... The welcome at Le Belem, the staff, the value for money, and the excellent mussels (in abundance)... Highly recommended during your stops in Saint-Martin-en-Ré
