The food and wine pairing was excellent, a real discovery. The only downside was the excessive amount of salt. The service was very friendly and pleasant.

While in Montpellier for work, I was delighted to return to this restaurant, where I once again appreciated the creativity, the quality of the food, and the warm welcome. I highly recommend this place!

The service was very slow at the beginning (one person for the entire room). The starter was very basic, especially after a 45-minute wait. The main course was very good, but the dessert needs improvement (the biscuit was very hard and the apricot was tasteless; perhaps it could have been lightly sautéed). For a €40 menu, one would have expected much better. Kudos to the waiter who was kept very busy.

It's a resounding YES! This restaurant is a little haven of tranquility in the heart of Montpellier. With its windows on both sides, even the hottest day is refreshed by a gentle breeze—perfect and never too chilly. The prices are very reasonable for food that is as beautifully presented as it is delicious. The staff is lovely, discreet yet always ready with a laugh between services. It was a wonderful time with friends at Bistro Urbain!

Hello, the food was excellent, and since that's the main appeal of a restaurant, I wanted to start with this feedback before adding some context. My comment concerns the service, which I need to explain: there were six of us, including a three-year-old child. (I had clearly stated this to the restaurant when I made my reservation, knowing that it can be problematic or even a deal-breaker for some.) Upon arrival, when I mentioned that we had a reservation, the welcome was icy. "Oh yes, you're the table with the child 😒." From that moment, I understood that the experience wasn't going to be a pleasant one. When the menu arrived, I was surprised to discover that no à la carte dishes were available, which is quite rare except in renowned restaurants. Okay, so I politely asked the staff if they would be able to adapt and prepare a dish to their liking, which we would, of course, pay for. The response was curt: "No, we don't even have children's menus 😒" ...Why am I telling you this? Because if the restaurant, instead of giving me a cold welcome at a family reunion dinner, had simply called me when I made my reservation (3 months earlier) to tell me that: 1) the restaurant wouldn't be able to accommodate children, and 2) that children weren't allowed, then I would have simply canceled my reservation and gone to another, friendlier, and more understanding restaurant. In the end, we paid €31 for one starter and one dessert (which was wasted). Again, I fully understand the difficulty of accommodating young children. I simply ask the staff to make this clear rather than giving customers a cold welcome, as was the case here.

Very good lunch, excellent flavours used in all the cuisine on offer.
