This haven is tucked away in the narrow streets leading to the St. Jacques gate and the Château de Cognac. Refined cuisine, attentive service. I was spoiled.

A must stop if you’re in the area. Food was incredible (the riz-de-veau and the pain perdu are amazing). Top service. Highly recommended.

What a find. This is a super restaurant with warm and friendly staff serving top class food and great wines. The menu changes regularly but all dishes are perfectly and creatively prepared. A 3 course set menu is available for just €29 and the à la carte is very reasonably priced. Mainly frequented by locals it is not a tourist hot spot and we enjoyed it so much that we visited on consecutive evenings. Booking is recommended but it also has a quiet little terrace outside if you simply want a drink. Thoroughly recommended for any visit to Cognac.

The food was excellent! They have a great wine selection and an even better cognac selection. Remember to ask for the cognac menu!

An exemplary bistro, one of those top 5% places that check all the boxes. It is the place I where you want to be a regular and would if you lived here.

Exceptional! What a pleasant surprise! A most welcoming atmosphere, all the staff are truly top-notch, and of course, the food is delicious... with excellent products: foie gras, asparagus (from the Valadon family), etc. It's definitely worth a detour!

We always have a wonderful time at this restaurant (by far the best in Cognac!). The welcome is friendly and warm, the service attentive, the food excellent, and the wine suggestions perfect. It's simply perfect! Bravo!

We had a wonderful time. The service was excellent, and the dishes, in addition to being delicious, were very generous. We decided against ordering the cheese plate (it's very rare for us). I'm still deducting one star because the wines are a bit pricey.

04/07/2026: Update: Very good restaurant, and superb welcome, attentive staff. That was in 2022. 2026: Very helpful staff, but the quality of the food has declined. There were four of us, and three were disappointed by the quality of the dishes. €30 for dishes with little preparation and serious doubts about the freshness of the ingredients. A shame.
30/06/2026: Food was delicious starter was a meat pâte planche with french bread .main course chicken Burger césar stylé. Prices ok

03/06/2026: We stayed three days at the Hôtel-Restaurant L’Héritage and it was love at first sight. From the moment we arrived, the exceptional welcome and the quality of service immediately put us at ease. You can feel the dedication of the team, their attentiveness, and their genuine concern for the well-being of their guests. The impeccable, clean, and comfortable rooms made our stay particularly enjoyable. The building's characterful architecture adds an authentic charm that makes you want to return. As for the restaurant, we have nothing but praise: the food is excellent, generous, and perfectly executed. Every meal was a delight. In short, we loved this place. An address we wholeheartedly recommend and where we will gladly return.
26/05/2026: I was in Cognac for work as a photographer, and I had the pleasure of spending the night in this magnificent hotel right in the city center. A huge thank you, especially to the young man at reception who was working on May 22, 2026. Thank you so much for all his attentiveness and kindness! And what a comfortable bed! Pure bliss—we didn't want to get up. Everything was very clean and welcoming, and the restaurant was delicious. I highly recommend this place to everyone!
