A nice, rustic cabin in a beautiful location. The rooms are a bit dated. They could use some improvements here and there. The outdoor dining area, right by the street, is noisy. The food is good. The staff is friendly. Breakfast is adequate.

For us it is always a pleasure to stop at the Napoleon refuge, I can no longer count the number of times we had a drink there while soaking up the scenery with the small lake and the Col de Vars.🏔️⛰️ In summer in 🏍️ or in winter snowshoeing at the Vars resort nearby.

We spent two nights at the Refuge Napoléon; the room was spacious, clean, and the bedding very comfortable! The same goes for the restaurant; everything is fresh and homemade, with generous dishes at reasonable prices. We highly recommend it and will be back. And we thank the owners for their welcome and friendliness during our stay!

Very friendly and welcoming owners. Warm atmosphere, superb views of the mountains and a small pond, and the company of cows with their bells. We loved our short stay; if we return, we'll be happy to return!

24/03/2026: I highly recommend it! Reservations are strongly advised. The food is excellent, and the owner/waiter is fantastic—humorous and cheerful! An address I'll definitely keep in mind.
22/03/2026: Although we hadn't made a reservation and all the restaurants (including this one) were fully booked that evening, the owner managed to accommodate us by finding a solution. In the end, we didn't regret being turned away elsewhere, as the evening was such a success! It's a friendly, family-run establishment with a very pleasant, down-to-earth atmosphere. The raclette was excellent and, above all, very generous. For dessert, the French toast-style brioche was initially offered with salted caramel, but the chef kindly agreed to serve us homemade chocolate sauce at our request; we greatly appreciated this gesture. A very good address that we will definitely remember for our next visits to Vars.

06/03/2026: Very friendly staff with their colorful hats. Inexpensive and quickly served drinks. The setting is magnificent, right next to the slopes, very convenient. Excellent! Try it soon!
06/03/2026: I highly recommend this restaurant. Whether you're looking for a sweet treat at 4 pm, lunch in the sun at noon, or a cozy dinner in the evening, you'll find what you're looking for. The food is delicious, there's a good selection, and the prices are more than reasonable. Plus, the staff is lovely. We never go to Vars les Claux without stopping by La Zizanie.
