Le Cambusier sur Saint-Malo

We stumbled upon this restaurant off the beaten tourist track and were not disappointed. We each opted for the daily lunch special. One was a complete meal for a very reasonable €26, and the other was just a starter and main course for an equally reasonable €22. We received everything we needed, and it was more than adequate for the price: Starters: Caesar salad and fish soup Main courses: braised beef with jus, mashed potatoes, and fish on a risotto Dessert: profiteroles with vanilla ice cream and warm chocolate sauce Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. We also enjoyed a glass of wine from the more than adequate wine list and finished with a tasty espresso. Thank you for this wonderful experience, and we would gladly return should our travels take us to St. Malo again.

Tucked away from the main touristy restaurants, le Cambusier was a wonderful find. Good and service was exceptional. Merci beaucoup.

Hello, We came for lunch today. I ordered the €38 set menu (starter/main). The portions were really small. I had sea bream, and the portion of fish was no more than 60 grams. My husband ordered the €26 set menu. He was also hungry. So, the portion sizes were a major issue, even though everything else was very good.

Located inside Saint-Malo’s charming intramuros, Le Cambusier offers a refined yet varied menu, making it a standout among Michelin-recommended options. We enjoyed the gazpacho de dorade, fresh cabillaud with an aromatic Asian-inspired sauce, and lieu with perfectly gratinéed cauliflower — all cooked with precision and served fresh. Dessert was a crisp, airy millefeuille with a light cream and balanced sweetness. The wine list is well-curated with options across price ranges. Prices are a bit above average, but the quality, execution, and location make it well worth it. Pros: Fresh, perfectly cooked fish, creative flavors, great dessert, excellent wine selection, prime location intramuros. Cons: Slightly pricier than average, but justified by quality.

We had an excellent dinner at Le Cambusier. The dishes are exquisite, with innovative flavor combinations and perfectly cooked fish. I especially recommend the cod with seaweed butter and the strawberry parfait with pistachio whipped cream. The beef with polenta was also superb. The atmosphere is very pleasant, with a decor featuring wine bottles and jazz music, and the staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. We will definitely be back!

Excellent restaurant in the ramparts of St Malo. We had the set menu (starter and main course) for €22 – very good value for money. I would definitely go back.

A bit more expensive than other options in the area, but well worth it. The mussel soup was exquisite. The beef was incredible. The service was very friendly, and the atmosphere was quiet and exclusive.

Everything was perfect, an excellent lunch, very refined, the choux pastry was absolutely delicious, and the service and welcome were impeccable! I highly recommend it; we had a wonderful time, a real treat!
