Tourist trap! Mussels in cream sauce cost €20. In most local restaurants, they cost between €16 and €20. With fries and sometimes a bowl of cider. At Le Cancalais, you pay an extra €4.50 for fries! One visit too many.

This is regarding Le Cancalais as a hotel. It’s actually fine. Welcome was rather brusque by two members of staff but the charming lady who looks after the hotel process couldn’t have been nicer. We booked a room on the front and it was a little old fashioned but spacious enough and clean. View of the sea was lovely. Sometimes you got some noise from the restaurants but that was part of the charm. I would recommend this place if you were to stay in Cancale.

Everything was perfect. Thank you to the chef, thank you for the service. You are all very pleasant, you love your work, and it shows. A great place with excellent value for money.

14/05/2026: A delightful surprise. A warm and friendly welcome. Perfect cuisine made with fresh ingredients and beautifully presented dishes. A table with a cloth tablecloth and napkins. Little waiting time between courses thanks to the numerous and attentive staff. Excellent value for money.
