Le Canclaux sur Nantes

I sat down at a table at the restaurant Le Canclaux, which I highly recommend. The welcome was warm, the food was magnificent, very well served, and the price was quite reasonable.

If you're visiting Nantes and can only go to a few restaurants, this should be one of them. If you like steak, their onglet de boeuf is the best steak we've ever had, anywhere, of any kind -- I don't care what cut, or if it's slathered in foir gras -- their onglet is our favorite steak, and we don't know why. Everything we've ever tried there (and we go there often and like variety) has exceeded our expectations. Reservations are a must, because we're not the only ones who've discovered this place. Some places excel in either their starters or their desert, but here it's hard to have only one or the other. Their menu, which changes regularly, typically has 3-5 starters, 5-7 mains, and 3-5 deserts, so always a good variety, and always something new. We strongly recommend.
