Excellent place. Don't be fooled by the exterior. The interior is just as surprising as what was on my plate. Sublime confit lamb!

My partner Elisabetta and I dined at LE CARNOTZET restaurant in Couiza twice in two days. The restaurant was clean and had a great atmosphere, with pleasant background music. We were greeted by a very kind young lady who made an effort to understand our poor French and guided us through the menu and dishes. It should be noted that, since I didn't like the salad (the entrée on the fixed-price menu), they offered me an excellent terrine for the same price, just to make up for it. Aside from the aforementioned terrine, the other noteworthy dishes included the homemade lasagna, the Basque chicken, a meat dish called "Txuleta de Boeuf à la plancha," and a wonderful apricot cream tart, all of which were excellent. The price was moderate, in keeping with the high quality of the dishes offered. Highly recommended, especially for lunch with a fixed-price menu of 3 courses (entrée, plat du jour and dessert) for 18 euros.

We ordered the set menu and it's one of the best places I ate in France. The menu costs 16 euros and is very complete and delicious, and it's great for children. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed.

Le Carnotzet is a beautiful establishment, with a chalet-style atmosphere and very clean. The service was quick and very pleasant, with jazz music playing in the background. We chose the €16 set menu and were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the dishes, which brought back the best of simple cuisine. The value for money is more than reasonable. Kudos to the chef and his waitress! I highly recommend it!

We highly recommend this restaurant; excellent value for money. The food was delicious and plentiful, made with quality ingredients. The welcome was very friendly and warm in a lovely setting with remarkable decor. We will gladly return.

A wonderful restaurant we'll definitely want to return to! Everything we ordered was delicious: fresh ingredients, excellent preparation, and beautiful presentation. The wine list is especially noteworthy—the selection is excellent, and the staff helped us find the perfect pairings for our dishes.

The food is always fresh and really good, and everyone is very polite and welcoming. The chef/owner is always friendly and makes you feel at home. It has a lovely atmosphere, plenty of character and the prices are very reasonable. I would definitely recommend it. It is also worth noting that the Google opening hours are not completely accurate. During July and August, it is open on Monday and Tuesday evenings as well.

What a shame about our second visit! We were disappointed with the daily special; it was a tartiflette with too much cheese, very salty, and the cheese was too old, not enough potatoes. And being in the restaurant business, I know what I'm talking about. Furthermore, we were given to understand that we shouldn't wait too long because the chef had finished a while ago. The starter was good and fresh, though, as was the dessert.

07/06/2026: Everything amazing! Very welcomer reservation desk, Madeleine, very kind in all stay. All the staff very helpful and kind. Room we had, is not very big , but enough for a couple. Bathroom good, everything working fine. The Chateau and garden amazing, should have a small walk around, see the river, spend some time in benchs listen nature. Building perfectly renovated, all corners like a sceen from old time medieval movie. Air is so fresh. The dinner place is middle of Chateau dishes was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious at Chateau. We selected Menu Chevalier. Each dish has its own story with all ingredients and sauce. I cant forget scallops, beautiful plate, feels like placed in garden of ocean and were cooked perfectly tender and full of flavor.. Desert, we choose pear, had the perfect balance as structure melting in mouth but not that much soft like pure and has a real good aromatic flavor. Mederic and staff very kind. Breakfast has very wide range, cheese, egg, pastry, jam and again taste is realy good. (Just note, you should know breakfast/lunch/dinner time, otherwise you need to search for food in village and be sure pool is cleaned and ready to swim ) Whole experience is like dream. Thank you everyone.
19/05/2026: A 500 year old chateau/castle, with spiral stairs up the towers, stone walls in your room, and other fantastic ancient charm. Staff goes above and beyond to help everyone with requests. Fine dining restaurant on site and kudos to the chef for great meals every meal. Chateau is alongside a rapid stream and across from a petonque court, where locals gather. The sleepy village is charming with nice hill views.

19/08/2026: It was nice, great welcome, the owners are very pleasant. A little disappointed that there was no couscous at this time of year, which we can understand. We were also rather disappointed by the starters, but the meat dishes were excellent. Good 👍
15/07/2026: Simple but effective. A family atmosphere, just what we're looking for. The food is simple, certainly, but well-prepared. Sometimes you don't need to look any further. We were able to watch the match. Yousef and his wife will give you a proper welcome. Thank you for this break; we really needed it.
