€29 per person for 3 people (€87.50 in March 2026). Good food in a very large, understated dining room with a rather modern, slightly minimalist style. Quite a bit noisy. Comfortable seating. Professional service. (++) Munster cheese tarte flambée (€13.50). A good tarte flambée, just the way I like it: crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. (++) Veal kidneys (€21). Ordered pink and served pink. Good and generously portioned. With sautéed potatoes. (++) Pork cheeks (€20). Good jus and a good dish. (++) Apple crumble tart (€5.50). Good dessert. (++) Profiteroles (€10). 3 cream puffs. Good. Tea (€3.50). Coffee (€2.10). 2 glasses of Pinot Gris (2 x €4). 1 Pepsi Max (€3.90).

Dinner with my daughter in a warm and pleasant setting. The service was quick and efficient, and the staff were friendly and smiling. Excellent traditional cuisine; we highly recommend this restaurant. We will gladly return with our family.

We've been here once before, and today was our second visit. I highly recommend this restaurant over any others in town. The portions are generous, the cuisine is excellent, traditional, and above all, expertly prepared. The service was impeccable; all the staff were attentive and responsive to our requests. In addition to their friendliness and smiles, we will definitely be back.

In the kitchen, the dishes are delicious, generous, and very tasty. In the dining room, the service is friendly and welcoming, a traditional Alsatian winstub with a festive atmosphere.

We thoroughly enjoyed it. It was delicious. The only downside: ordering and being charged €5.60 for a 1L bottle of Carola Bleu, only to receive a bottle filled with... water.

I visited with my cousin three days ago, who came from Lille to Alsace (because I love Alsace, you're always so well received there!). Le Cheval Noir has once again proven that Alsatians are truly wonderful people! A simple, typical place, just like a good traditional pub in the north. I loved the Alsatian mural. The place is spotless, with easy parking 100 meters away. The staff is kind, smiling, and attentive to their customers. I had a lovely young woman serving me the evening of my visit. I was very happy with the tarte flambée I ate there, the gratinée, and a delicious crème brûlée for dessert... a real treat (5-star food!). For anyone visiting this area, a detour to this simple yet warm, welcoming, and typically Alsatian place is a must. Thank you again to the waiter and waitress I dealt with for their kindness!

Au Relais des Ménétriers

07/01/2026: I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant Au Relais des Ménétriers in Ribeauvillé, Alsace, France. This restaurant is located about a 5-minute walk from the entrance of the old town of this beautiful village, making it very easy to reach while still feeling pleasantly calm. The tables are well spaced, allowing for comfortable conversations, and the service is friendly, smiling, and attentive throughout the meal. We had the opportunity to try the Baeckeoffe au canard, a specialty made with duck, baked in a terrine-style mold and served with a generous selection of vegetables. The dish was both very flavorful and surprisingly light, with duck that was incredibly tender, clearly benefiting from the slow cooking in this cake-mold-shaped cocotte. We also ordered the matelote of perch, wrapped in a very fine pastry and served with a delicious sauce. Both dishes are emblematic of Alsatian cuisine and were executed with great care and precision. We finished with a chocolate moelleux for dessert, which was rich and satisfying. Considering the quality of the food, the setting, and the service, the prices are very reasonable. All in all, a restaurant I can highly recommend to anyone visiting Ribeauvillé and looking for authentic, well-executed Alsatian dishes in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
