Le Grand Bleu sur Calais

A truly wonderful discovery! This restaurant boasts magnificent cuisine, truly exceptional, worthy of a gourmet establishment. The service is top-notch, and the staff are incredibly pleasant and kind. We even brought our dog, who was very welcome. I recommend it 1000 percent! We're from Belgium, and we'll definitely be back when we're next in Calais. You can go there without hesitation.

A great experience at Le Grand Bleu. My father thoroughly enjoyed his Toques d'Opale menu. Excellent from start to finish, which I highly recommend over the Plaisir menu I chose; it's a bit more traditional, but I still ate very well. Pleasant setting. Friendly staff.

We came last night, what an incredible meal!!! We highly recommend it to everyone; the menu has something for everyone, and the service is very pleasant. We will gladly return, and with our dog, that's a promise.

From the very first minute, everything was perfect: a beautiful ambiance, a warm welcome, incredibly friendly and attentive service, and of course, cuisine that truly delights. The dishes are not only beautifully presented, but their flavors are on a completely different level. Fresh, high-quality ingredients, perfectly balanced aromas, and creative cuisine that still manages to be pleasantly down-to-earth. Every course was a real experience – you can immediately tell that the food is cooked with passion and skill. We were particularly impressed that, despite the sophisticated cuisine, the atmosphere is pleasantly relaxed and not at all stuffy. This combination is precisely what makes the visit so special. For us, it's a clear 5-star recommendation and a must-visit in Calais! ❤️ Anyone who enjoys truly excellent food should absolutely not miss this restaurant. One of the best restaurants in Calais. Every time I go there, the service is impeccable, and everything is top-notch. I wouldn't trade this restaurant for anything in the world; it's a delight.

We ate very well. A glass of red wine straight from the fridge 😝. However, the service needs improvement.

This is a gourmet restaurant with a good reputation in Calais. However, my opinion is more nuanced. First, regarding the food. The cuisine isn't refined or sophisticated. Visually, it's appealing with a nice use of color. However, once you taste it, it's a different story. The foie gras is good, but there's no toast to accompany it; the choice to pair it with exotic fruits is unusual. The goat cheese appetizer was tasteless. As for the main courses, it's very expensive for poultry that isn't particularly well prepared, and the sea bass... it was absolutely not tender. The side dish was heavy, and the sauce was too strong. We had to force ourselves to eat the desserts (the Paris-Calais is too heavy). In short, it's too heavy for gourmet cuisine, and we had a lot of trouble digesting it afterward (I usually have no digestive problems). Regarding the service, we waited for the menu. The soda served was barely fizzy; for 6 euros, the least one should expect is a fresh, not flat, soda. As for the bread, they'd grabbed some from an empty table to replenish the bread supply... Regarding the wine, it's true, we didn't know how long ago the bottle had been opened. Overall, the service wasn't very pleasant, with no warm interaction with the customers. As for the ambiance, the terrace offers no nice view. There's no soft music, just a small touch-sensitive light that you can turn on yourself. In short, it's okay, but nothing special. I was a bit disappointed with the place and the food; I expected much better.

What a wonderful time!! Everything was perfect. From the aperitif to the exquisite menu and impeccable service. Not going there when you're in Calais would be a shame. Highly recommended!
