Le Lion d'Or sur Chateau-Chinon (Ville)

After a beautiful, long drive through the Morvan, we arrived at Jean Michel's in the evening. He's a kind, cheerful man who knows a lot about the area. After welcoming us, he showed us our room, and we enjoyed a delicious meal at the restaurant around the corner. That evening, we returned to the hotel refreshed and asked if we could have another drink. He first told us it was already too late and that the restaurant was actually closed. After a brief chat, he told us to sit down and served us the best wine, along with a delicious charcuterie plate. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and at the end, we were given a tour of all the rooms and spaces. Hospitality at its finest!

How can I put it? An exceptional place, even though it's currently under renovation. As for the owner's welcome, we loved it! Very kind, interesting, and attentive. And the breakfast was simply delicious. We will definitely be back. Charente-Maritime

For tourists looking for accommodation right in the city center for a night or two, the hotel is very well located and easily accessible. The price is average for hotels of this type in the area. The rooms offer the bare minimum (no soap or toothpaste, barely functional Wi-Fi), but they are still comfortable and more spacious than university dorm rooms in major urban centers. And I didn't have any problems with dust or questionable bedding. The owner is very welcoming. He's chatty, certainly, but that's typical of the tourist scene. He'll make you feel at ease and will even give you a tour of the entire hotel. The only downside is the rather loud whistling heater and the weak shower spray. But hey, considering the price, I'm not going to complain.

Jean Michel is absolutely lovely. I arrived sick and hoarse, and he cooked an incredible and hearty meal on the spot. The room is clean and functional. The place truly has a wonderful atmosphere. I highly recommend it!

Everything you need was there!! It was great! The owner is friendly and cooks very well 😍 If you want luxury, you should be prepared to pay for luxury hotels! Everything worked out perfectly for me!!
