17/08/2026: I made a reservation at lunchtime for dinner at 8:00 PM. We arrived at 7:55 PM. The menu finally arrived at 8:25 PM, and we were able to order at 8:35 PM. We'd already been there for 40 minutes before even ordering… To pass the time, we ordered a Côtes-du-Rhône. We thought it would help us forget the wait. 😅 Meanwhile, some tables were leaving, while others seemed to be praying for their dessert. 8:56 PM: still nothing. 9:00 PM: my wife was finally served. After more than an hour's wait, my beef fillet arrived. The manager then came to introduce herself and apologize for the wait. Unfortunately, at this point, the damage was done: I simply didn't want to prolong the evening, and we declined the offer of dessert. It's a shame, because the meal itself was good, apart from the carafe of wine—but with that kind of wine, you never really know what you're going to get. The restaurant is well located and nicely decorated. The setting is truly pleasant. It's the service that falls short. I also want to point out that both the owner and the waiter came to apologize. The owner even offered us two glasses of champagne, both for my birthday and to apologize for the wait. It was very kind, and we appreciated the gesture. But unfortunately, that wasn't enough to make up for the overall experience. I feel it might be time for this restaurant to reinvent itself: a different concept, a refreshed menu, and above all, a reorganization of the dining room and kitchen that allows diners to rediscover the pleasure of going to a restaurant. Two days in Château-Chinon, two disappointing dining experiences. What a shame.

16/08/2026: Absolutely avoid this place. We waited and waited to be seated, even though it wasn't very busy. Once seated, we waited an eternity again. The waiter told us twice they were coming, but to no avail. Then three people came and were immediately taken care of and served, even though we hadn't ordered yet... He seemed to know them well. Probably locals. We got up and left. We ran into the manager and told him we were leaving. He didn't seem surprised and then thanked us in a rather unfriendly manner. In short, the staff was awful and unfriendly. We had plenty of time to read the menu, and the prices seemed high for what was offered. In short, we strongly advise against going there.

04/06/2026: Excellent value for money and impeccable, warm, and friendly service. We thoroughly enjoyed it. And a young man serving us was as charming as he was attentive. 👍 5-star kebab! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

24/05/2026: A warm welcome. The couscous and main course were generous and appetizing, all at a very reasonable price. The owners were friendly and offered a discount to compensate for the unavailable dessert. The wait was perfectly reasonable, reflecting the preparation time of the ordered dishes. The Turkish beer was a nice touch. The terrace was pleasant. Completely satisfied.

22/04/2026: A well-located hotel in the heart of Morvan's capital. Friendly staff. The restaurant is of good quality – local cuisine, carefully prepared dishes made with fresh ingredients. Breakfast is adequate (buffet style), but we found it a bit pricey (15 euros).

26/05/2026: A passionate traveler, it was by chance that I stumbled upon the Lion d'Or. And of course, this place left its mark. Normally, I don't bother reviewing the places I stay because everything is so sterile, so similar, and original, unconventional places have little or no reason to exist... But seeing the reviews and ratings piqued my curiosity and led me to dig deeper and understand. The owner is one of those people who are bursting with energy, talkative, intelligent, with a strong and memorable personality. Ultimately, I'd say divisive. But what an evening spent dining with other travelers and the owner! A feast, hastily prepared by our ever-attentive host, peppered with shared experiences and humor. These kinds of moments are part of travel, and they leave such a lasting impression. So yes, it's far from the norm. But if everything becomes standardized, what place is left for such unique individuals? See you soon, my friend. PS: Practice your chess! ;)

28/08/2026: TERRIFYING: You have to wonder if there's even a cook in the kitchen... They can't even make a homemade quiche or a croque monsieur! On the plus side, they know how to open the lid of a package of pre-packaged ham. If you're going to eat frozen food, you might as well go to the supermarket a few meters up the road. How is this business still in business?
