Le Petit Jardin sur Montpellier

I must admit I was the first to be surprised by the subpar service. We had booked for 12 people (a company event) on December 18th. We waited for ages, without even being asked if we wanted appetizers. After an hour and a half, we'd barely received the starters; I had to leave for a meeting and return at 2:45 pm for my main course… no explanations were given about the dishes, and worst of all, the wine wasn't even offered for tasting (even the local bistro does that!). There were stains on the tablecloth, and the dishes were served at different times (the duck arrived after those who had ordered fish had already finished). And at no point were we asked if everything was alright, not even when we paid. In short, the service was catastrophic that day; for an €800 meal for 12, we expected better.

A wonderful culinary experience shared with the family. I'll remember this Paris-Brest for a long time!

We had lunch in the bistro area for a birthday celebration. The staff were very attentive and the food was excellent. Thank you for a lovely time.

A good culinary experience overall; the dishes were tasty and original. It's a shame, however, that the staff isn't competent enough to showcase the food effectively. Despite being seated close to the servers, we had to ask them repeatedly throughout the evening for water, wine, and bread. I expected a restaurant claiming to be fine dining to offer proactive service that was more attentive to its customers' needs. Similarly, the long wait at the table, whether paying or being seated, annoyed not only me but also left half our table in the cold. In short, a good culinary experience, but the service needs to be more professional, befitting the ambitions of this type of establishment. One final comment: the chairs weren't very comfortable.

Rather disappointed overall… I had been looking forward to trying this “gastronomic” restaurant for a long time. The setting is superb, no complaints there. The welcome and service were generally pleasant, despite one major drawback: our aperitif order was taken 35 minutes after our arrival. Fortunately, the non-alcoholic exotic cocktail was excellent, very refreshing, and perfectly made—I highly recommend it. However, I was left wanting more from the food. For a €64 menu, I found the dishes quite expensive and lacking in refinement. The turbot cooked on the bone, ordered by my companion, was raw in the center. The next table sent their plate back for a similar cooking issue. The dishes aren't explained to you when they arrive. I ordered the oyster prepared three ways (tartare, aspic, and tempura), and I wasn't told what was in the tartare or the aspic in terms of seasonings, etc. Overall, in my opinion, the dishes lack balance and finesse. They're at a "semi-gastronomic" or "bistronomic" level, yes, but I'm sorry: it's not worth €64 for a true gastronomic experience. Either the prices need to be revised, or the term "gastronomic" needs to be changed.

A very positive experience at this restaurant. The dishes were delicious and carefully prepared. The atmosphere is calm and cozy, perfect for dinner with friends or as a couple. Special mention for the attentive service. I recommend this place for good food and pleasant staff.

A very satisfying lunch in a beautiful establishment with a glass roof, charming little courtyard and garden, offering glimpses of the cathedral through the trees. The cuisine was refined and flavorful, except for the petits fours which I didn't particularly enjoy (cream puffs and caramel) and which didn't quite live up to the overall finesse of the meal (they left a bit of a feeling of heaviness). One also expects a gastronomic menu to include specialty breads, at least more sophisticated than the classic white bread. The staff were very friendly, but the service didn't quite live up to what one expects from a high-end restaurant, which is a shame. In my opinion, there's room for improvement in this area to earn the final stars and justify the price.
