Le Petit Jardin sur Montpellier

We came to enjoy a pleasant meal at this gourmet restaurant, where we sampled the €48 seasonal menu (excluding wine). We appreciated the quality of the dishes, particularly the delicately caramelized peach dome with pine nut praline and rosemary ice cream for dessert. However, the service was a point of contention. We were seated at a table covered in leaves, which didn't seem to bother anyone; a napkin still bore the marks left by previous customers; the table runner was upside down; and the small appetizer dish remained on the table until the middle of the meal. These conditions detract from the overall value for money.

To begin with, I never imagined enjoying a €2,500 Romanée-Conti in this restaurant. The establishment has real potential: the setting is magnificent, with a lovely garden and a breathtaking view of the cathedral. It's hard to imagine anything better. Unfortunately, this is where the experience falls short. I first ordered a Moscow Mule. The lemon wedges hadn't even been squeezed and had simply been placed in the glass, which significantly diminished the cocktail's aroma. The appetizer then arrived, but no server came to serve us the wine. We had to ask for it ourselves, which is regrettable, especially in an establishment of this caliber. The wine glasses were also disappointing: too small, with a thick rim that was unpleasant to drink. This type of glass does absolutely nothing to enhance a great wine. For my main course, I chose the duck. The chef had recommended I cook my meat medium-rare, but it arrived much more cooked than instructed. The desserts, on the other hand, were quite good and ended the meal on a positive note. Ultimately, this restaurant has real potential thanks to its exceptional setting and quality cuisine. However, the service is clearly below expectations and deserves serious improvement to live up to the establishment's ambitions.

Friendly and attentive service with a very good wine and food menu. We opted for the more than reasonably priced lunch menu and a local wine. Everything was served promptly, and the service was warm and attentive. The dishes were superbly prepared and tastefully presented. We particularly remember the Scamorza panna cotta, the Iberico ham, and the Paris-Brest stew. We will gladly return!

Excellent restaurant in the heart of Montpellier. The pork pulma was delicious, and the fig carpaccio with sea bream sashimi was very, very good! Bistronomic with several menu options for budgets ranging from €36 to €64! Highly recommended! We'll be back.

What a pleasant way to end our Montpellier trip! ❤️We went as a group of 5 for dinner. We all chose the set meal for 46€ per person and we received: An Amuse Bouche, Unlimited Bread and Water, Appetizer, Main Meal, Dessert and Cookies/Chocolates. The staff are extremely well trained and the service is efficient. The restaurant have a very pleasing ambience with a touch of luxury and very easy to talk to. I’m very glad that it was recommended to us by our guide from Montpellier Wine Tour. Make sure to book a table before arriving. 😊🫶🏼

We ate at the bistro in the little garden, served by Max! I have nothing but praise for it; the portions were generous and delicious, and the service was impeccable. We'll be back!
