For the second time, I returned to this charming crêperie and received a warm welcome and my smile was just as delightful.

A pleasant surprise to rediscover this restaurant, as I was expecting a full house for New Year's Eve. However, the generous menu and friendly, smiling waiter quickly put us at ease, allowing us to enjoy a lovely evening with my sister, who convinced us to return and try the new, more locally sourced menu.

This was our third visit, but we were disappointed this time. The portions were small and the food arrived cold. We didn't have to wait, but the quality wasn't there. The staff wasn't the same as last time, but they were still friendly. I don't know if we'll be back after this experience.

The service was very fast, perhaps too fast. The galettes and crêpes were barely warm; they tasted like reheated food. I ordered the Aveyron-style galette. The ground beef was overcooked but barely warm, the cheese was barely melted, and the potatoes were practically mashed. Everything was dry and lacked seasoning. As for the sweet crêpe, the caramelized apples were like cold compote, and the crêpe itself was lukewarm. Is this due to understaffing? Poor organization? Lack of culinary skills? Perhaps they should offer fewer types of galettes and crêpes and focus on quality?

As always, a very pleasant experience. Le Phare St Louis is our favorite crêperie because it excels in the art of making galettes. Our meal capped off a great day in Chartres. The staff is always so friendly, and I especially thank the chef who kindly agreed to change my crêpe, which wasn't to my liking. I recommend it 100%. A small update regarding our visit on December 21, 2025: The restaurant's welcome was excellent, but all three of us were disappointed by the buckwheat galette, which had a strange taste. I even tasted the different elements of my galette separately (I had ordered the Camembert and apple compote one) to find out where the cardboard taste was coming from, and it was indeed the galette itself. All three of us were very disappointed... it was, after all, our favorite crêperie. My galette was empty and folded over on itself, with the filling on top... it could at least have been fried in salted butter (it's a Breton tradition), that would have given it some flavor... My husband only had three sausage slices in his.

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant: A friendly atmosphere, excellent service, very welcoming staff, and delicious food. The salads were excellent, as were the sweet and savory crepes. Good value for money. The setting was warm and inviting, with beautiful nautical-themed decor. I highly recommend it.
