Le Refuge de Plate sur Passy

We were bivouac so no opinion on the dormitory. We had the evening meal as well as breakfast. Very good and hearty meal for hikers. Soup with a large piece of tomme. Crozets gratin with vegetables Pineapple cake. Our welcome was perfect accompanied by a big smile to begin our tour of the Fiz. And yes, no shower, because no water! The name of the refuge is quite self-explanatory!

Each time I passed through, I never slept there, but it is the oasis in the desert of Platé, They have everything, they offer everything with kindness, and we have great treats Soon a first night to validate dinner and breakfast

The mountain refuge par excellence, Spartan comfort amplified by the fact that the refuge is located in the Platé desert and therefore without a source. No source = little water, just enough to rinse (outside, no shower per se), or brush your teeth with a little water in a jerrycan. Don't expect great luxury! We slept in a dormitory for 16 people, well appointed: small walls that separate you from the neighbors at head level, and with a small shelf for your belongings (watch, glasses, bottle of water). This is well seen. The meals are good, better than in other shelters. No water = dry toilets. This may put some people off! However, they are recent. Bottles of water are on sale, at €4.50 for 1l5. It may be shocking, however, but not crazy compared to other shelters and given the distance. If you bring enough water for 2 days (which we did), it's OK because water is served with the meal.
