Great local atmosphere. The owner, Amandine, is incredibly kind and does everything to make you feel welcome. Excellent value for money considering the atmosphere there.

A taste of Christmas on our plates. When the restaurant changed ownership a few years ago, we weren't initially convinced by the idea of ​​charcuterie and tapas platters at Le Russel. But seeing today's menu, we decided to give the restaurant another chance. It was during this cold, festive season that we thoroughly enjoyed this comforting lunch. A truly delicious foie gras crème brûlée and a guinea fowl supreme with chestnuts or chive cream and homemade fries worthy of a Sunday lunch. Le Russel managed to delight us for a bill of €58 for two (drinks/coffee included). If Le Russel maintains this new approach, it's quite possible we'll return for another delicious meal on our next visit to Carteret. Try it for yourself ;)

28/04/2026: A lovely restaurant in the town center with a fantastic welcome and excellent food at a very reasonable price. The owners have hearts of gold and even did the shopping and delivered groceries to elderly people who were stuck at home during the lockdown. Thank you!

28/04/2026: We had the most spectacular seafood platter at this restaurant last night. Everything was delicious but I am impressed the whelks were done so superbly. Apparently they steamed them instead of boiling them and they put cloves with it. The texture and taste were wonderful. I know whelks are not to everyone’s taste but it is worth trying a few. The oysters were fresh and sweet. Prawns and spider crabs are also of very good standard. We had the most amazing white wine too, if you feel like splashing out for a treat. That is the white wine to go for with the seafood. After a good amount of seafood, we decided we needed to have desserts. The desserts were just as good. The staff were very friendly and professional. Service was at a very good pace. We weren’t rushed and we had good space of time between courses. I recommend that you book ahead either by phone or email. The restaurant does get busy. It was a Wednesday evening we went and it was full. The seafood platter was out of this worldly good.
