Le Select sur Paris

The bill is hefty: €3 per oyster with number 3s but also numbers 4; the kidneys are bathed in a mixture of blood and cream.

One of the great café/bistrots/brasserie in Paris on Boulevard du Montparnasse, with all the classic dishes for this kind of restaurant. Le Select is spacious and so it is easy to find a place if you just drop by or you can simply book in advance. The service is attentive, friendly and fast. There is so much to recommend on the menu, but their steak tartare and chicken dishes are among my favourites. Do not miss out on dessert, in particular the chocolate profiteroles or the tarte tatin (both are a must). This place is good for all occasions with friends, family or the quick business lunch on the go. I do not have enough good things to say about this place.

Very nice restaurant. Very good and well prepared food.

Lunch for 4 people. The steak tartare was not only served almost at the end of the dishes of the 3 other people, but also not prepared in front of the customer: it was "hanging out" in the back room, confusion in the service according to the waiter!. We asked several times for extra sauce for the leg of lamb, again lack of responsiveness. Certainly, the "Steak tartare" dish was not charged, which is a commercial gesture, but gaps in the service remain.

Published on Instagram (ericpaname) The toponym Montparnasse comes from Mount Parnassus, the mountain in Greece where the Muses lived according to mythology. As a joke, this is the name that students from the Latin Quarter would have given to a pile of rubble which was located before 1725 at the crossroads of Boulevard Raspail and Boulevard de la Fronde (today Boulevard Montparnasse, created between 1720 and 1760 ), crossroads named Place Pablo-Picasso in 1984. If this pile of warty rubbish has disappeared for a long time, leveled by the urbanization of the district, the name has remained and a square of remarkable brasseries around the Vavin metro station: the Coupole, which I have already chronicled, the Dôme, the Rotunda and the Select; precedes the location of this mythical mound. As Le Select is celebrating its hundredth anniversary this year, I made it a point to go take a look. In the pouring rain, but no matter, the warm welcome made me forget it immediately. As an aperitif, I nostalgically go back to the sixties with an “on the rocks” guignolet and some conventional pretzels and pitted olives. The organic mimosa eggs with truffles served on mixed greens pass their entrance exam on their own, but with flying colors. I note in passing that this mesclun is not one. From Nice “mesclum” = mixture, it should be composed of at least five different varieties of salad leaves. Here, there was only oak leaf. Again a few oak leaves on my tasty trio of lamb chops (it’s high season) and its caponata, washed down with a lovely François Xavier Barc brine-champigny, Les Calcaires. A Select-style lemon tart, both creamy and crispy, rounds off this delicious lunch. Allow €80 for this new moment of pleasure. As François-Régis Gaudry could have concluded, at the Select, we enjoy it!

Charming Parisien brasserie in Montparnasse with the original construction material and design all around. Lots of light inside, the atmosphere is very agreeable. Lots of French stop there in the morning for their "formule petit déjeuner"! Amazing plus: the most exceptional service in Montparnasse! I have observed and lots of little attentions is being done for the customer to be happy. The service is quick, yet friendly. I have asked for my croissant to be warm, and was reminded that in France, you eat it cold. Waiter Farid said not to worry and brought it back warm, not from the microwave "Sacrilège!" but he put it in a toaster for me! The client at the table next tom told me that they woudn't do that in any restaurant around there at Montparnasse. I replied: "Well, then, I know what place I am coming back to!".

Friendly and fast service, good but very classic food, average onion soup, 1/2 free-range chicken good, and supreme with vin jaune and morels just good (very light in vin jaune and only 2 morels) moist chocolate good. The problem is the price which is really too high considering the dishes offered.

Mythical place. Traditional service

We arrived Saturday evening in the rain last Saturday with my 2 teenagers who were VERY hungry. My oldest wanted to go to Select Point. The restaurant was full and I saw Tony and his hostess carrying tables from the terrace to seat us. Incredible service! the sole and the Niçoise salad delicious.!! Thank you again, a real sense of service. We will come back soon. Carole and Ilan
