Le Servant sur Paris

We ate outside on a Thursday evening as we found the interior a bit too noisy. The tables were clean; I only noticed some grease marks on the tiled walls, so perhaps they could be cleaned before service begins. The service itself was good, with attentive and smiling staff. The wine list was varied (both in terms of price and region), and a member of staff helped us choose a good one. Regarding the food, I have mixed feelings. The mussels were excellent! The choice of a crunchy texture was very well done. The black pudding in a "pie crust" was a bit rough; it reminded me of a knaki sausage wrapped in shortcrust pastry, the kind you eat as an appetizer at a neighborhood party. However, the black pudding itself was very good, and the sweet chili sauce went perfectly with it. I didn't like the yellowtail, but my husband loved it! I just don't understand why crushed ice was used; it didn't add anything to the sensory experience… We finished with the incredible mushroom tart and the tuna dish, which arrived with broad beans. Again, I don't understand the choice of broad beans; they have nothing to do with the tuna, neither in terms of texture nor taste. Most of the dishes were a touch too salty, so we wish the chef well. My husband came last year and loved it; perhaps I should try other dishes.

Excellent food & friendly service here but the dining experience was totally compromised by the loud disco music, better described as noise pollution. I struggled to have a conversation with my wife without shouting, even after they reduced the noise at my request. As a result, we skipped dessert & were glad to get out of the place. This is the first time in 25 years of regular visits to Paris that we have experienced this sort of racket in a restaurant that serves serious food. We always thought that Paris was a haven from this problem that infects many restaurants at home, but no longer, it seems.

Excellent place, with a special mention for the starters!

I've been there twice already, even though I don't live in the neighborhood. Le Servan is the antithesis of a decorative restaurant that exists solely for Instagram. From the outside, it's almost like a modernized old-fashioned betting shop; on the plate, the cuisine is refined, precise, and truly accomplished. The spicy oysters, sweetbreads, and desserts demonstrate real mastery. A solid establishment, it's been there since 2014, and it shows. You come back to eat, not to photograph the walls. My only complaint: when it's this good, you wish there was more on the plate.

A unique experience and cuisine. Just as delicious as ever.

It was very good, the place is very pleasant, the food was good and well-prepared, and the service was friendly. But I'm taking off one star because I feel that in this city, for the price I paid, I've had more culinary enjoyment for less. It was missing a little something, a little spark in the flavor (especially in the main course; the starter was fine) to justify the price in my opinion. It's still a great place!
