Le Verre Galant sur Chalon-Sur-Saone

A beautiful spot in front of the cathedral, the staff are very pleasant and friendly. The meal was delicious, rich, and plentiful. I highly recommend it.

We ate at Le Verre Galant restaurant, located on Place Saint-Vincent in the pedestrian center of Chalon-sur-Saône. The establishment boasts a large, furnished terrace with a direct view of the cathedral. Inside, the atmosphere is that of a brasserie. The menu clearly leans towards traditional French cuisine, with a nod to regional Burgundian specialties. We saw typical starters such as duck terrine with confit duck breast or poached eggs with Epoisses cream. The main courses follow the same theme, with dishes like eggs meurette, chicken supreme with Epoisses sauce, and more classic cuts of meat. We ultimately chose the butcher's cut with Roquefort sauce. The presentation was simple yet appetizing, and the portions were generous. The welcome was warm and friendly, and the service was professional and efficient. The drinks menu perfectly complements the meal with a genuine selection of Burgundy wines served by the glass, such as Rully, Mercurey, and Petit Chablis. It's a very good restaurant (offering unbeatable value for money) that we enjoyed for a delicious meal in the heart of the historic district.

A very good time at VG... The staff were very professional, pleasant, and smiling. Excellent value for money! The terrace is lovely, and you don't have to eat with other diners because the tables are spaced far apart – a rarity these days. Highly recommended!
