Le Vieux Murier sur Tours

While in Tours, we stopped as a family at the famous Place Plumereau, at the Café du Vieux Mûrier, to enjoy lunch on the terrace in the heart of the historic center. As for the food, the terrine offered as a starter was particularly flavorful and enjoyable. The main courses were generally good, but without any real surprises or standout features. We did have a slight preference for the Burger du Vieux Mûrier, which stood out with its more unusual flavors while remaining well-balanced. The desserts followed the same pattern as the main courses: good and well-executed, but without any truly distinctive elements to make them stand out. In terms of value for money, the starter seemed a little expensive considering the portion size, despite the terrine being of very high quality. Otherwise, the prices are consistent with what is offered and the quality of the food. The atmosphere is clearly the establishment's strongest point. Housed in a building with a facade typical of old Tours, the restaurant boasts an interior dining room in a bistro style that perfectly reflects its identity. But it's the large terrace that truly sets it apart. Located directly on Place Plumereau, in the heart of the historic center, it enjoys an exceptional location and offers a particularly pleasant setting for lunch. Regarding the service, the staff was professional and courteous throughout the meal. However, I found the service slightly lacking in attentiveness and warmth, although this remains a minor point compared to the overall experience. We came for a beer or two, and the new waiter was very friendly, smiling, and welcoming. The bartender with the spreader bars was very pleasant; it's nice to see great terraces with friendly staff!

In the most typical location in Tours. It's good, though not a groundbreaking discovery, but the setting is very pleasant. You pay for the location.
