L'escale oceane sur Villefranche-Sur-Mer

If you go through Villefranche, you have to make a little detour to the Grande Cave. This wine bar is warm and cozy. There you can enjoy good little platters of cheese, ham, camembert, etc. while sipping a small wine recommended by Leslie. Leslie takes great care of her customers. In addition to her good humor and her magnificent smile, she always has a little word for each customer. I'm not talking to you about his offbeat humor, go and discover it for yourself. In short, it’s my favorite place in Villefranche.

The place is actually nice (setting, playlist) but it's very expensive for very small quantities & toast with industrial ham. The wine is good but there are only 3 choices (white, red, rosé) which is a shame for a wine bar! Finally, we found the reception simple & not particularly welcoming.

Very nice spot for having a Glass or bottle of delicious vine in a Great atmosphere! Add to your to-do-liste when in Villefranche! 🍷 🍷

This is in response to "Jared" and the silly little 1* review posted below. I hate that I have to step in and say something on Google for an incredible little business, but this is for the sake of the truth and transparency, regarding the best little wine bar in the world, with the best hostess imaginable! Why scream such obviously bitter and silly noise into the abyss of almost unanimous five star reviews like you have something honest to say? Hopefully people will roll their eyes at your obvious lies; both locals, and any of the thousands of people who have visited and rightly adored Le Grand Cave and its proprietor, because she has a rightly adoring global clientele who return year after year Everyone hopefully sees you're a belligerent liar in loafers, just because you didn't get what you wanted so you spat your dummy out, while being dealt with politely by a fantastic business woman. And I know this for a fact because I turned up five minutes after your by multiple accounts, pitiful display of utter entitlement, and had multiple primary sources who witnessed your dire little display tell me all about it. Earlier in the day I had recommended Le Grand Cave, as I do almost every day, to some lovely Americans. When I arrived, they thanked me, told me how wonderful it was except for "Oh my God, you just missed this giant man-baby guy going nuts because he didn't get his own way! It was hilarious and embarrassing! And she dealt with it so well! She's incredible" Another wonderful, kind spirited couple I had recommended it to were sitting adjacent also, and have just posted a true, fantastic review. So what's happened here with you, Little Lord Loafers, is two-fold: 1). Clearly you believe you should get everything you want, and if you don't, you get your turbo-little silly self on the internet, try to insult a hardworking beautiful person, with a beautiful soul and a beautiful businesses, that we ALL appreciate here, and around the world. She has the kind of support/goodwill you clearly were denied in your life. And in the process of your noise-making this evening, you profoundly embarrassed yourself (and I imagine your soon to be ex-girlfriend) and became the talk of the town for a hot minute because of being a brat. 2). You then also use this platform to try and spew your little resume' like anyone cares; "I've done this, I've done that with such and such, wahhh!". Nobody here cares. Everyone here has been somewhere, done something, seen some stuff, and so your sad little suggestion that one of ours, a huge part of this community, is somehow small minded, or "provincial", is a pathetic little insult to us all. Thing is, you clearly think you're something ...and what you learned tonight, Little Captain Entitlement, is that you simply aren't. Nada. Take this as an experience for personal growth. You need it. Tonight you did not meet someone rude ...you were rude. You did not meet someone who was threatening, YOU stuck a camera in a wonderful, hardworking, kind, decent persons face while being a big baby about the whole thing and try to pass it off as something else. Look at you, ragging on a one-woman operation, because her hard work pays off and she's fully booked, but you couldn't have a spot as you demanded. WAHHHHHHH! Honestly, I cannot imagine being your girlfriend having to deal with you carrying on like that. You try pathetically to insult a beautiful person with the "He or she" quips. I'll tell you something boy, you're definitely not "a man" carrying on like this. I'm quite the worldly, objective and fair fella by all accounts, and I'll say this on behalf of everyone here and afar; take yourself right back to whatever poor, forsaken place has to endure you on a daily basis. And may pigeons forever defecate on your loafers. You took the time on a Friday night, in a beautiful place, to post that. I wrote this while I was sat on the toilet, because that's appropriate responding to your noise. VIVE LA CAVE! 5.1 STARS! So shhhhh.

We loved this place! Exactly what we were looking on our first day in Villafranche. We were very lucky to get a table as it's always booked and very popular. Great wine and great food. We thought the owner is incredible - hard to believe she does everything as she was super attentive. Would highly reccommend!

Amazing place with lovely wine. The owner blends in with lots of happiness and good wine recommendations. In addition the St Germain Spritz is just lovely. Definitely a place to visit!

Probably one of the best place/best location/best host in all the entire French Riviera. If you like wine and good vibe… it’s your place!
