I, Sir Ludovic de Téléton, knight and great connoisseur of the food and victuals of our lands, had the honor and joy of feasting at a place called L’Imprévu, in the town of Ambrières-les-Vallées, on the Rue de la Porte de Chammay. There, I was served a strange and very tasty dish, which in my language we do not name, but which I can describe: a round loaf of bread, filled with roast meat, herbs, and spices, which I will call, as I see fit, the knight's morsel.
Before I tasted this dish, I questioned the proprietress, a most charming and graceful damsel, who greatly reminded me of my beloved Eleanor, faithful wife and companion in my adventures. She told me how to prepare this new dish, and I recognized in her words the wisdom and diligence of the kitchen women-at-arms, worthy of the noblest feasts.
The meat was tender and well-seasoned, the bread crusty and golden, and the condiments brought everything together in perfect harmony. I can assure you that this dish rivals the offerings of the grandest banquets and is perfectly suited to the palates of knights and ladies of quality. The establishment is honest and pleasant, offering the warmth of a fire and the comfort of a well-laden table.
Therefore, I wholeheartedly recommend L’Imprévu to anyone wishing to taste an extraordinary dish, prepared by expert hands and served with courtesy. May the lady of the house be praised for her diligence and skill, and may every traveler find rest and delight there.
