Muqam Restaurant - Specialite Ouighoure sur Paris

A very nice little restaurant. It wasn't very busy. The food was quite good, but I think the portions could have been a bit small. In any case, it was very interesting to discover Uyghur cuisine. No complaints about the service.

This is the second time I've eaten there, and each time I order dishes I don't really like. This time it was the quoruh goruma, but the waiter was very friendly.

Muqam restaurant is one of the establishments that has helped to introduce Uyghur cuisine to the capital. The restaurant emerged in a context where Uyghur gastronomy remains extremely rare in Paris. The Uyghurs, a predominantly Muslim Turkic-speaking people originating mainly from Xinjiang (Turkestan), possess a cuisine that blends Central Asian and Chinese traditions. Its menu particularly highlights leghmen, long Uyghur noodles traditionally made by hand, as well as kawap, skewers of marinated and spiced meat. It also features Toho Qordaq, a dish of chicken, potatoes, vegetables, and noodles, samsa, various salads, and other traditional dishes. These are all homemade preparations using spices characteristic of this cuisine. In Uyghur, مقام (muqam) refers to a major classical Uyghur musical tradition. A muqam combines instrumental music, songs, poetry, and dance. The Uyghur Muqam of Xinjiang constitutes a comprehensive artistic heritage passed down through generations and shaped by the cultural exchanges of the Silk Road. UNESCO proclaimed it an Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2005, and then inscribed it in 2008 on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The meat is halal; it's a real shame the restaurant serves alcohol.

A fantastic discovery of Uyghur cuisine! We tried an appetizer (samsa) and two main courses, both bursting with flavor and generous portions. Honestly, it was delicious. Metin provided excellent service and was incredibly attentive. ✨
