Osteria Rotello & Co sur Suce-Sur-Erdre

Excellent osteria in the heart of the Charonne district, which has changed so much (for the better!). The menu was quite short, but a good indication that the dishes are homemade, fresh daily, and regularly updated – we wanted to try everything (which we did). The appetizers (which we shared) were superb: a variation with Japanese influences on Italian classics, very creative and successful. The main courses were perhaps a notch below the initial explosion of flavors – but still very tasty, especially the tuna, which literally melted in your mouth. The only dessert (tiramisu) was rich and creamy, perhaps lacking a touch of amaretto (or alcohol in general). The portions are generous and the prices reasonable in the current climate. We couldn't finish our meal and got takeout. The servers were all lovely, very smiley, cheerful, and attentive. My daughters particularly enjoyed the slightly retro decor. The wine list was very impressive and detailed (notably attributing each Italian wine to its region of origin), but I can't comment on it as we weren't in the mood to drink (and there was no pressure whatsoever). It's a place we plan to return to; thank you for this excellent experience!

The restaurant's ambiance, both in terms of the food and the decor, is truly delightful. Every single dish we tried was excellent. The place is also very charming; it feels cozy, like a small, intimate room. However, the service didn't live up to the setting and the quality of the food. The service wasn't consistent between the different servers. And after you've finished your dessert, you're rushed out of the table (I'm talking about 10 pm for a restaurant that closes at 11 pm). We'll remember what we ate more than anything else!

A very pleasant family dinner on the terrace. The menu is short, but all the dishes were delicious. Special mention for the carbonara and the fried pizza. For wine lovers, there's a very nice selection of Italian wines. We'll definitely be back!
