If you're tired of the dumplings and andouillettes served in most restaurants on Rue St Jean, then you can try the exotic at the Raj Mahal. We received good advice from the waiter, who did not push us to eat, and who directed us towards suggestions that were not too spicy. I don't remember the name of the dishes, but it was tandoori.

The service was perfect, the waiter very pleasant and very good advice for choosing dishes and very good explanations on Indian cuisine! The food was good, the dishes plentiful but perhaps a little fatty for my taste…

An exceptional experience! The food is delicious, and the service impeccable. The server was very welcoming and very kind. We were served quickly, in a magnificent setting. We had a great time and we will happily come back!

Un service chaleureux, et au petit soin, avec une pointe d’humour très appréciée. Les plats sont très bons, et il y a du choix, même pour ceux qui craindraient les plats épicés. La terrasse sur la petite place est très appréciable, idem pour la salle avec une décoration qui plonge dans l’ambiance. Y aller les yeux fermés !

Impeccable service and delicious dishes. The meat was tender, the sauces incredible, lovely presentations, really nothing to complain about. We were very well received, even late. This restaurant is a real gem in the middle of all these tourist traps, I will return there with my eyes closed, that's for sure. My doggy bag the next day, even though it was cold, well done to the whole team

Visited Lyon from York 05th-08th July 2025 and visited Le Raj Mahal on our final evening. This was probably the best Indian restaurant I've been to. The waiter was very attentive and personable, keen to make our experience the best. No problem in adjusting the dishes to suit our tastes. Of course I got Hiccups with the Beef Madras, but it was tasty and the cheese naan was to die for. Even had a conversation with the chef afterwards - a very friendly bloke and a very good chef! You won't be disappointed in this venue.

07/09/2024: Funny eating Indian in Lyon but it was next to our hotel and we were hunkering for a bit more Asian flavor. I’m not Indian but I live in Silicon Valley so there’s a lot of great Indian food. The naan and pakora were fantastic. The masala chicken curry was tasty but very oily. The dal was good but nothing special. The mixed grill (shrimp, salmon, some sort of sausage) was, well, mixed. Weirdly no beer available. We had perfect weather outside but it was cramped fitting everything on the small table. Funny thing was that we thought the greeter dressed in full Indian regalia was a wax statue! After reading some of the other reviews, I had a few more thoughts. Got a table right away at 7pm on Sat. Thought the portions were ok. The pictured meal (with a tea) was 60 euros. Seems normal for a touristy area. Mild spicy, we could’ve handled more but it was fine. Waiter spoke good English and helped me order non-dairy so I appreciated that.

15/09/2024: Great address, the owners are welcoming and share the history of this place.
12/09/2024: We spent a very nice evening at Rose Allemand, the starters (samosa and paneer pakoras), the curries and naans are exceptional +++. The owner is really very welcoming and took the time to explain the menu. We will return!
