Another great time at Restaurant 1789 in Val d’Isère — always such a pleasant experience, with a warm and authentic atmosphere just the way we like it. A special mention for the fireplace-grilled ribeye steak: tender, full of flavor and perfectly cooked, with that subtle smoky taste that really makes the difference. The side dishes are generous and high quality. The service is still relaxed, friendly and unpretentious — you feel right at home from beginning to end. A place you always come back to for great food and a great time, plain and simple ! Thank you !!

Steaks (fillet and sirloin) were substandard. We ordered medium rare, they came out well done. To 1789’s credit, they were replaced but the taste was poor and they were chewy. The salmon on mash main course was swimming in cream. Beans prepared with bottled not fresh garlic. And not cheap - EUR 9.50 per 750ml bottled water is cheeky. The good news - great vibe in the packed, tiny dining room, and the wait staff were friendly and efficient.

An indescribable restaurant, the food is so delicious! Personally, I had a crozet gratin with Beaufort cheese and a salad, and I have absolutely no complaints—it was fantastic! And I saw the meat dishes the restaurant offers; go for it without hesitation! Go for it, you really won't regret it!

A must-visit in Val-d’Isère! The value for money is simply exceptional, especially for this resort. The cuisine is generous, both in flavor and portion size. There's something for everyone. On the menu? Savoyard specialties, foie gras, frog legs… but that's not all… Meat lovers will be in heaven! The service is top-notch, and what can we say about the owners… they go out of their way to make you feel welcome! If you're visiting Val-d’Isère, go without hesitation and without moderation; you won't be disappointed.

A warm and cozy spot by the fireplace. A friendly and smiling team provides impeccable service. The hardest part will be choosing from the menu because you'll want to try everything. From the very first bites, your taste buds will be beckoning you back to try the other dishes! I highly recommend it! 😁

06/04/2025: First the negative things: I think the only negative in that I gets quite warm inside. Positive things: The raclette was really delicious,the charcuterie as well and the menu had many different options, including a child-menu. The staff was really lovely too. They also have a bar with a terrace upstairs, which uses the raclette cheese if unfinished!
23/03/2025: First time to have dinner here and we had the most wonderful, locally authentic meal. Onion soup and Pierrade au Boeuf, the meat was simply delicious. Service was excellent and friendly, atmosphere was lovely. Highly recommend.

19/02/2026: There are no WORDS the express the deliciousness of the pastries at this place. By far the best patisserie in the area. We had raspberry & pistachio tart and oh my god it was PERFECT. Staff is lovely, prices reasonable and very nice selection of teas. I had mariage frere’s rooibos tea and highly recommend it. Only downside was that we discovered it on the last day of the trip, truly wish we had gone there on the first day as I would love to visit it every day especially after ski!
10/02/2026: Excellent service and products. Impossible to try everything, I highly recommend it!
