Restaurant Chez Hortense sur Lege-Cap-Ferret

At Hortense's, you have to go for the local color. The food is good, but we were rushed; our plates were taken away as soon as we'd finished our last bite. The restaurant is very noisy.

We had lunch at Hortense's with friends and we loved it! The welcome and service were impeccable. The team was in great spirits, and a special mention to Linda who made our meal even more enjoyable ;) As for the food, the dishes were fresh and well-prepared. A fantastic place in Cap Ferret

A superb establishment in Cap Ferret. We went there for a birthday celebration; a large table was very well managed by the staff at the breakfast room. A unique atmosphere and an excellent meal, wine list, and champagne selection. Thank you.

Last Saturday evening, we had the pleasure of dining at Chez Hortense, and this legendary Cap-Ferret establishment truly lived up to its reputation. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming: the restaurant was brimming with life, good cheer, and that relaxed elegance so typical of the Arcachon Basin. The setting is simply exceptional, with a magnificent view of the basin and the majestic Dune du Pilat, particularly magical at the end of the day. The service was excellent from start to finish: attentive, efficient, and very friendly despite the Saturday night crowd. You can tell it's an experienced team that perfectly masters the art of hospitality while maintaining an authentic and welcoming approach. This kind of atmosphere, both familial and professional, contributes enormously to the experience and explains why so many people return year after year. As for the food, it was a pure delight. Chez Hortense's famous traditional mussels are absolutely legendary and more than deserve their reputation: generous, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. We also enjoyed a turbot that was simply succulent, remarkably fresh, and cooked to perfection. A memorable evening at a must-visit establishment in Cap-Ferret. We will gladly return.

My first time at Hortense's Disappointed, overrated reputation. The dining room is beautiful, apparently with a lovely view, but not visible at night. The menu offered few choices; a tuna steak was overcooked with just parsley and garlic, and a slice of lemon as garnish, for 33 euros, accompanied only by homemade fries. I know gourmet restaurants where the full menus are hardly more expensive. I tried it, and my review reflects my experience!

A must-visit in Cap Ferret! Top-notch cuisine! Top-notch atmosphere! And above all, top-notch service! The mussels are incredible and the sea bass is divine!
