The welcome was pleasant, the main course quite decent, however the ice cream scoop must have been expired (tasteless and rubbery). Despite my comment, they ignored it and charged me for it even though I hadn't eaten it – not very customer-friendly. The setting must be lovely in the summer, but in winter the view of the neglected terrace is rather unpleasant. A shame.

There are good points and areas for improvement at the Restaurant de l'Abbaye, which faces the Brou Monastery.
To start with the positives, I'll mention the quick phone reservation, free parking all along Boulevard du Brou where it's located, a fairly wide selection of set menu options, and very reasonable value for money.
We opted for the €31.50 set menu, which included a local salad, Bresse chicken in cream sauce, fromage blanc, and dessert. Everything was perfect, right up to the cheese course. The portions were generous, the food was tasty, and the chicken leg was stamped with a blue, white, and red rosette, attesting to its origin.
However, there are still some significant areas for improvement for this ideally located restaurant in front of a magnificent tourist site: the "gourmet coffee" wasn't gourmet enough, and the verrines of chocolate mousse, tiramisu, and crème brûlée were uninteresting and even not very fresh, with dried mousse dripping down the side of one of the glasses.
The restaurant's decor is in dire need of a refresh, especially the outdoor terrace with its artificial turf, which is closed in November. There, you'll find garbage bags on the chairs, gardening equipment on the tables, ladders—in short, a veritable storage area visible to all customers, which detracts from the ambiance. The manager's welcome might surprise you with its somewhat abrupt and gruff manner; those who prefer a fawning, smiling, and attentive staff are likely to be disappointed. However, if you love dogs and mention it, the atmosphere softens towards the end of your meal.
In short, three stars for a restaurant that has potential but has clearly been resting on its laurels for far too many years without any real desire to update, reinvent, or modernize itself. A shame.

Great restaurant, with friends or family it's always a pleasure to go there! The team is great, at lunch and dinner, the sea bass fillet and the beurre blanc sauce are deliiiiiice... and the desserts are great! Very good address!
