A very warm welcome and lovely decor in the restaurant, the menus are affordable and above all, the food is delicious with a subtle hint of spice, the homemade whipped cream desserts, and the impeccable waitress who always had a smile. We arrived hungry and left full.

My wife and I love Indian cuisine, and we know quite a few good Indian restaurants, especially in Germany. We were a bit skeptical because Yaal Mahal only had a 4.4 rating on Google, but since it was still well over 30°C outside at 7:00 pm, Yaal Mahal was just a few steps from our accommodation, and, most importantly, it was air-conditioned ("salle climatisée"!), we decided to go in. Luckily. The rather low rating must be due to the decidedly unadorned and very spartanly decorated dining room—not the quality of the food. Because what we were served was simply phenomenal. I had the Yaal Mahal set menu: a vegetable roll with two sweet sauces and a spicy onion chutney, along with a small raw vegetable salad, as a starter; followed by a chicken vindaloo as a main course (quite mild for my taste); and for dessert, a hot almond paste with cardamom syrup. The whole meal cost €27.90 – an absolutely fair price. And then I discovered that each dish was better than the last. I've never had such delicious food from the subcontinent on the European mainland. And to find it in a small town in Alsace, of all places – I really hadn't expected that. Fantastic! My wife was also completely thrilled with her vegetarian khorma and her kulfi (Indian mango ice cream). Note for foreign tourists: Menus are available in French, English, and German. The owner speaks excellent English, so I didn't have to test his limited school French.

An address I wholeheartedly recommend! Everything was absolutely perfect, from start to finish. The ingredients are impeccably fresh, and it shows in every dish. The portions are generous, flavorful, and prepared with great care. You can taste the quality of the ingredients and the passion behind everything. A huge thank you also to the staff, who are remarkably kind and attentive. The welcome is warm, the advice is excellent, and you immediately feel at ease. It's rare to encounter such a smiling, attentive, and professional team. An exceptional experience in every way: the quality of the food, the service, the atmosphere, and the value for money. It's undoubtedly one of the best restaurants I've ever discovered. I will return with great pleasure and recommend it 100%!
