Restaurant L'Amphitryon sur Chartres

Lovely restaurant, food, wine and service. Is it worth paying 20% more for an experience which is clearly levels above a regular restaurant? From the polite and respectful service, the carpet, the furniture, the decor, the cutlery, the wine and food menu, the napkins and tablecloth, let alone the quality and flavour of the products themselves? We felt so. And even if it's too pricey to do all the time, it's well worth pushing the boat out for a one-off or special occasion. So what's wrong? Perhaps some very light background music (or live music?) and stop allowing dogs to come into eating spaces. There were several inside the restaurant and although they were well behaved, there was a noticeable smell as it had been raining that afternoon/evening. I'd rather pets were left at home, personally.

Excellent restaurant with attentive staff. I highly recommend it.

The service was too slow (50 minutes before being served), the sea bream in its broth was overcooked and unappealingly presented, and there was a long wait to pay.

Overall a good establishment for a stopover on a bike trip towards Mont-Saint-Michel.

A very pleasant surprise. I rarely give 5 stars because there's always room for improvement. 4 stars for the food: very good, truly. 5 for the service because the staff were really very friendly. Only 3 stars for the ambiance because the tables are a little too close together. But I recommend it and I'll gladly return.

Everything went very well, as usual. It's always a pleasure to come to this restaurant.

The restaurant is very pleasant in terms of decor, with efficient and attentive service. The starter and two main courses were good and nicely presented; however, the dessert was a huge disappointment: a sad little tartlet all alone in the middle of a plate, with no effort put into the presentation whatsoever. It's a shame, as it spoils the overall impression.

A sure bet in Chartres: refined cuisine, quality service, a cozy atmosphere... everything is there for a very pleasant experience. A must-try!
