Restaurant le Chaudron sur Oloron-Sainte-Marie

We had a very good meal there, and the welcome/service was quick and pleasant. The only downside was that it was quite noisy because the busy road runs alongside the terrace.

I was so lucky to find it after searching and searching online. It didn't specify gluten-free options, but we went in and after speaking with the waitress, who was incredibly friendly, she confirmed that they did and gave me an allergen menu. Obviously, they don't have bread, but we ordered a very interesting cheese salad and a ribeye steak with potatoes. Unfortunately, we couldn't get hamburgers since they didn't have bread... but my friend who ordered one said it was amazing. The place is super cozy. It's not cheap, but it's worth it.

The food was excellent (the vegetarian burger was simply superb!), as was the service. I highly recommend it.

Tested on a weekday evening in August. The meat is good, but there are some major shortcomings. No bread on the table, nor any offer of bread. The dessert menu tries to be original, but the desserts themselves are just basic. A Colonel's Cup served with the bare minimum of vodka (€9.50 nonetheless) and a tiramisu that's tiramisu in name and price only (where's the biscuit?). But perhaps they've adopted the touristy daytime approach like many others, meaning minimal products for maximum price. A big mistake when the customers are locals. I'll pass.

A very good experience at Le Chaudron. A very warm welcome, attentive and helpful staff. My son wanted ketchup, but they served him a much better peppercorn sauce; he was delighted and learned to appreciate good food. The only downside was the proximity to the busy road, but this wasn't a problem during off-peak hours.
