Restaurant Le Tertre sur Saint-Emilion

Julien and Catherine provided an experience so exquisite, we returned to St. Emilion for our final night in the Bordeaux area just to dine with Le Tertre a second time. Thank you for putting so much thought and care into each dish, each wine pairing, and every moment of the experience. I look forward to returning with my wife on a future trip. The menu rotates, but if you have a chance to try their Foie Gras, Jersey Beef, Veal, or Duck, you will not be disappointed. Take the time to ask Catherine what wine pairs best with each course. Absolutely amazing Restaurant! The food is incredibly delicious and plated thoughtfully and beautifully, but what really makes the difference is the amazing service by the owners themselves and the fantastic wealth of wine knowledge when pairing a dish with a wine! I will come here again and again, highly recommend you get a reservation as this place fills up every night.

This is THE restaurant to experience in this entire region and one of the best dining experiences of my entire life. Our experience from start to finish was so magical we immediately booked a second night and came back to Saint-Emilion a week later solely to eat here. It's that good, it's that special. You will appreciate the extra care that goes into every single dish, with thoughtful ingredients and amazing flavors in each bite. The host/owner and her husband go the extra mile to make the evening special, with perfect wine recommendations and a smile. We LOVE this restaurant. It is easily one of our favorite experiences ever. Make the reservation, take your time, and savor every bite. We are grateful to have found this gem.

My wife and I visited LeTertre in late September and it was the highlight of our St Emilion stay. The place is beautiful but comfortable, the challenge of the steep cobblestone path adds to the charm. But the food (and service) sets this place apart from all the others. The small number of tables means you’ll get just the right amount of attention and the food was exceptional. We both rate it as one of the very best meals we’ve ever had. We started with Foie Gras, followed by the pork and duck dishes which were both delicious and beautifully presented. An outstanding wine recommendation rounded out a near perfect night. I highly recommend you get a reservation and try LeTertre.

I have had the opportunity to dine at Le Tertre, and I already know that words simply won’t be able to do justice to the experience, but I will try, because this is one place far too special to gatekeep! From the moment you arrive, the setting is absolutely beautiful. There is something so elegant and effortlessly charming about the place, while still feeling intimate. The atmosphere invites you to slow down, settle in and simply enjoy the moment. And then there is the food… Spectacular really is the only word that comes to mind. I genuinely cannot remember the last time I sat down at a restaurant and loved every single bite. Every dish that arrived at our table was beautifully presented, full of flavour and, most importantly, cooked to absolute perfection. You can truly feel chef Julien’s passion and talent behind every dish. And don’t even bother trying to choose a wine yourself! Just leave it to the amazing Catherine, who looked after us so beautifully throughout the evening. Her warmth and impeccable choices took the experience to another level, with the wine pairing exceeding our expectations. Le Tertre is one of those rare places where the setting, the food, the wine and the people come together perfectly. An unforgettable evening, and without a doubt, somewhere I would return to in a heartbeat.

We arrived around 10 a.m. on a Sunday morning to reserve a table, only to be told they were fully booked. A few minutes later, we called and were able to reserve without any problem—can you guess why? We opted for the more expensive options on the menu (fish and meat), but ultimately, the value for money was very poor. There were a few Asian flavors and some questionable flavor combinations that don't really belong in French cuisine, especially in a setting steeped in history, albeit beautifully renovated.

We ate there today, my husband Jean Jacques (French chef) and I and we were very surprised by the friendliness of the owner, the wife, and the creativity and quality of the food prepared by the chef, the husband. Wonderful experience, Merci!
