Restaurant Racine sur Lectoure

Wow, what an incredible meal we had! Definitely the best we've had in France. We went to celebrate my husband's birthday with family (a group of four and a dog). We arrived early because it was very cold and damp, which wasn't ideal for the busy day we had planned in town. We were warmly welcomed into a beautifully decorated dining room. The service was perfect, very friendly and accommodating despite our poor French! All the dishes we ordered were sublime, especially the langoustines in consommé, so delicate and delicious. We were the last to leave because we didn't really want to go... We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience: the excellent wine, the wonderful food, including the cheeses (and my clementine meringue was superb!). We will definitely return with other friends in the future; it's well worth the hour's drive from our village. Treat yourself and visit this wonderful restaurant.

A consistently surprising, unique and delicious cuisine in a welcoming setting

I visited your restaurant twice three or four years ago. My friends and I appreciated the friendly welcome and the original, flavorful cuisine. We enjoyed the dishes again today. Your wine list offers some excellent vintages, which isn't always the case. However, I must apologize for the slightly impersonal welcome. We thought the delicious cocktails we ordered could have been served with some appetizers; I mentioned this, and we were invited to order them à la carte for €4.90: a small cup of olives and another of roasted hazelnuts. I noticed that we weren't actually charged for these. To avoid any unpleasant surprises, it would be helpful to specify that the candied white bean stew is a vegetarian dish. The term "stew" is misleading. Its presentation in a shallow bowl contrasts with the attention to detail in the presentation of your other dishes. The slow-cooked veal was delicious, and I loved the octopus with beluga lentils and red cabbage, which was beautifully presented. I appreciated the little candle placed on my dessert to mark my birthday. Thank you. Finally, while I didn't recapture the initial enthusiasm of my first few days there, I left happy to have enjoyed such well-prepared and flavorful dishes, and I would still recommend Le Racine-Racinette, with its authentic and charming atmosphere.
