Restaurant S'Kastele sur Schiltigheim

We were pleasantly impressed by the Alsatian cuisine and the service. The staff were very friendly and the setting is beautiful.

This restaurant is located in one of my favorite areas of Schiltigheim. Place de la Liberté is very lively in the summer, and s'kästele, with its large terrace and beautiful facade, greatly contributes to this appeal. Inside, the decor is simple and welcoming, spread over two levels. I recommend the "Hugo" aperitif, a very refreshing Spritz. The menu features regional dishes, and three set menus round out the selection. There were four of us, and we all enjoyed our meals. The portions are generous; it's best to come hungry! 😉 My ribeye steak with morels was delicious, and just recently, the veal fleichkichele with pasta and mushrooms were equally good. We also tried the crispy pike-perch on a bed of sauerkraut—excellent! But a beautiful setting, a great location, and excellent food would be nothing without good service. And it was perfect. Short wait, good advice, and humorous conversation – we really enjoyed ourselves. The prices are reasonable, reflecting the quality. I highly recommend this restaurant.

During my city trip to the Strasbourg area, I ate at this restaurant several times, and it was excellent every time. Over the course of our visits, we practically sampled our way through the entire menu. We also tried the daily specials. The quality was consistently outstanding, and everything is homemade. The value for money is truly exceptional. The portions are very generous, so you definitely won't leave satisfied. A great selection of excellent wines completes the experience. The service was very pleasant and friendly. I will certainly remember these visits fondly and will gladly return next time!

S’Kastele is the art of making classic dishes without ever becoming mundane. The menu is intentionally short, focused on a few Alsatian staples. But each dish seems to have been revisited, refined, and enriched just enough to give it a true personality. The cuisine is generous, precise, and above all, the plates clearly don't know the meaning of half-measures! And then there's the owner. Her dry wit and good humor are contagious. You quickly feel at ease; it's so refreshing to still encounter restaurateurs with a dry sense of humor, who, despite the current situation and the difficulties they face, manage to put a smile on your face after a long week at work. Special mention also goes to the Corsican rosé, a delightful choice to accompany the meal—a lovely discovery. An establishment with character, generosity, and a true soul. People come for the food, they stay for the atmosphere… and they already promise themselves they’ll come back.

We had dinner last night, November 9th, in this very pleasant restaurant with its typically Alsatian decor. The dishes we enjoyed were extraordinarily generous and truly delicious, as were the lavish desserts. The service was absolutely perfect in every respect. Excellent value for money. We had lunch on Tuesday, May 2nd, and again today, May 4th, in this unique setting. The daily menus are exceptional. The dishes are absolutely delicious and the desserts delectable. The service is very efficient and friendly, characterized by great courtesy and kindness. We were delighted with both meals, especially at such unbeatable prices.
