Sauce et Leplat sur Bethune

The photos aren't great, but what a meal... That's probably what threw me off. 😬😁😋 An extraordinary, reimagined Welsh rarebit, both creamy and robust (try looking up what a "regular" Welsh rarebit is like). A truly exceptional carbonnade that was absolutely divine (no surprise, it was a World Champion). And a melt-in-your-mouth clafoutis, served with apple sorbet and dry cider to wash it all down. Unfortunately, for "technical" reasons, this gem of the North, Pas-de-Calais to be precise, will be closing its doors for good at the end of the month... 🥲 You only have a few days left to enjoy it!

We're disappointed too 😞. But there are priorities, and health comes first. I'd love to have the recipe for the strawberry ice cream and the porcini mushroom butter. And don't forget the smoked salt.... Oh yes, you'll be missed by many.... and now where do we go? See you soon for one last time on the 10th.

A wonderful lunch at Le Neuf. The warm welcome from the hostess was delightful, and the amuse-bouche was a hummus with apple pickles and mustard seeds—the sweetness and acidity perfectly balanced—followed by a delicately spiced and perfectly seasoned salmon rillettes. For the main course, the suggested dish was quail fillets with a rich hibiscus and tonka bean jus. The quail was tender, and the accompanying jus was elegant, complementing a smooth, buttery carrot purée—a true delight. My wife ordered the carbonnade… and it certainly lived up to its reputation. Porcini mushroom butter was offered with the bread, and we left with 200g—they also offer it for takeaway! For dessert, a revisited smoked Dame Blanche with praline and hazelnut Chantilly cream! We were guided in our wine selection, and the pairing chosen for our two courses was excellent. In short, a very enjoyable experience. Thank you to the chef and his team. All the best! Jonathan

A dish made with love and a well-deserved title of best carbonate in the world. It's simply delicious and flavorful. BRAVO!

Impeccable service, but a major disappointment on the plate. I came for the Flemish carbonnade, crowned world champion in 2025, but the title is likely to fall this year. The cooking was very inconsistent (one piece was perfect, another as tough as shoe leather), the fries were undercooked, and the portion of sauce was far too small to finish the dish. As for the chocolate-orange mousse, I didn't know a mousse could melt like ice cream when served lukewarm... Thank you to the waitstaff for their friendliness and hospitality, but the bill simply didn't add up.

Perfect, an exceptional discovery. The welcome was a ray of sunshine. The cuisine was exceptional, a 10 out of 10. I highly recommend it. Delicious dishes. Pleasant setting. A magnificent day for sumptuous dishes and a sunny welcome despite the rain 😊. I will be back soon.

What can I say! AWARD WINNING carbonnade flamande! And it was absolutely delicious. The food was soooo tasty, generous portions, lovely non alcoholic cocktails and the mushroom butter... Such attention to detail, well thought out menu, produce of the area and I really want to go back. The atmosphere was brilliant with 80/90s music, decor and such. The lovely thing also, were the people. Warm, welcoming and friendly. We do like a chat too. So, thank you. We will be back.
